Any tips on my custom vertical theme?

Hi gang,

 

Been working on a custom vertical theme for a shmup only hyperspin cab. I've got it looking pretty much how I like it but I have a few questions that I thought I'd bounce off the community.

Is there anyway to eliminate the blackness between switching videos? My fallback idea was just to add some generic "select game" text so the video transitions wouldn't be so jarring.

 

Another question on the videos; as the load, there is a brief pause as the videos begin to play. You'll notice if you look closely in my video clip. What's going on here? Is this my processor (old dual core). Or is this something that just always happens with Hyperspin. I can live with this if I have to.

 

My third issue isn't illustrated in the video. It's what happens during attract mode. Is there any way to get the spin below 4 seconds? Basically, I'd just like the attract mode to quickly skip to the next game and minimize the time my video box is not showing video. I thought this might be game_jump=1 in the .ini but that doesn't seem to have an effect. Is there any way the reduce the time of the attract mode spin?

 

Thanks for your input. I'd be glad to hear any other ideas you might have for the theme. I like to keep things simple.
