olfenite Posted February 7, 2017 Share Posted February 7, 2017 Hello, I'm sorry for bringing up an old topic, but this project really intrigues me. Years ago, I was going to build a NES PC, but never followed through. I've finally decided that I want to do it now, but everything is so different in the computer world than when I was first wanting to do this about a decade ago. I have never built a computer before and I'm very nervous about doing so. This tutorial is a great starting point. However, it is also several years old and that is a lifetime in computer years. I'm sure that there are different and better components that are available. Would anybody take the time to help me go shopping? I'm probably looking at a $400 budget, but can go to $500 if necessary. What I would hope to do is build a machine that allows me to play the classic consoles like NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, and maybe Dreamcast. Arcade games are not that important to me. Things that I like about this NES PC is the hard drive out and having the option to use a 19v adapter instead of trying to put in my own power supply. I even figured if it uses bluetooth gamepads, maybe I could use wiimotes and NES classic controllers attached to them to play old NES games, but I'm getting ahead of myself here.
