Help Picking the right Computer for Hyperspin

Hello all

I have been a hyperspin user off and on for a while now and my current pc is crap and barely loads hyperspin...

My question is I am in the market for a new computer any suggestions?

I am not looking for an extremely expensive all bells and whistles $2000.00 computer but also not looking for the bare minimum to run many of the emulators that need to be installed especially for the newer system emulators Playstation 2 etc etc... so one with a good graphics card would be ideal

Was looking into those gaming desktops I.E. cyberpower etc etc... While they seem very strong am I going way overboard(price wise) with something like this or could I get away with a much cheaper computer?

Any suggestions would help me out.

Like I said would like to run with no problems the newest emulators that hyperspin supports without any issues due to poor computer performance.

Things like hard drive media options(dvd or blu-ray) doesnt matter to me since they are easily upgradable... I am more concerned with graphics card motherboard processing speed etc etc.. Thanx for the help!

P.S. will be using this computer as my home computer not just for gaming as well if that makes a difference. Hopefully my plan is to in a year or two use this computer in a mame cabinet and then just purchase another home computer which again is why I dont need an extremly overpriced computer but one whiich should last a few years with the current emulators/hyperspin... Thanx

For what it's worth, I just recently built a Hyperspin PC and used the following components:

Corsair Carbide Series 240 - Case

Intel i5 4690k - CPU

ASUS Z97M - Mini ATX motherboard

Corsair H80i - Water cooler (idles 32 degrees OC)

Corsair 2x4GB 2400mHz DDR3 RAM

Intel 730 series 240gb SSD

Western Digital 1.5TB 7500RPM SATA HDD - Stores all my Hyperspin files/roms.

Antec 650W - Power supply, gutted it out of an older PC-- everything hooks up fine.

Im in it about $700. Its not super high end, but it's not low either. The CPU's integrated graphics run everything with no issues. Runs everything in Hyperspin very smoothly, no stalling or lag. I put emphasis on the cooling ability which is why I went with the Corsair case and watercooler. Between the H80i and the case, theres five 120mm fans, and I installed two 80mm in the rear. A bit overkill probably, but I don't think i'll need to worry about the airflow. Hope this helps if you're considering building one from scratch. I don't ever imagine myself needing to upgrade this thing for my arcade cabinet.

Good find on eBay. I just usually don't trust it due to warranty issues and uncertainty of new condition. Can you PM or post the sellers link? I think most would be hard pressed to find a 3TB HDD and CPU alone for less than $330. I'm intrigued!

Well.. Nas disk and the external one i bought separate.. But

The case (silverstone) was new.. And it seems the processor and motherboard and the rest was new as well..

Sure i send u a PM .. I give u a Link for a previous sell he made! :)

If you can, I recommend getting a SSD (for the OS) and a seperate HDD for all hyperspin, roms emu stuff.

It boots up/down super fast and probably helps with Hyperspin as well.

True but... This seller has pretty much positive on ebay.. So i took the chance.. I mean only the processor cost 200$

Ssd disks isnt cheap either so.. I had it running pretty much without hazzle.. Just needed alot of updates on it (bios/drivers/etc)

This Guy is a hardware technician. So yes maybe he get his stuff somewhere :)

To run hyperspin with speed.. Fine go buy ssd disks for 1000s of $., wii, ps2 i assume the "loading" depends on disk speed.. Havent setup that yet so cant compare.. You get what u can afford with, right?

Put the OS and HS with its wheels and vids on an ssd, so it loads everything fast. Just put all the roms on one or multiple hdds. This way HS will run as smooth as possible with loading wheels and vids etc, but starting games will be a tad slower. (try going for higher rpm/speed hdds)

Make sure you set windows up for an ssd. i.e. turn off disk defrag, pagefile, etc, to not degrade the ssd unneeded to not decrease it's lifespan. There's some tutorials online on how to do this.
