Buying liquor (whiskey) in Germany

Hey fellow HyperSpinners,

 

I have a question for the Germans amongst us (or dutchies who already have experience with what I'm about to ask)

I want to organize a whiskey tasting and need to buy some bottles and it happens to be the case I live a stones throw from the German border and I know for a fact spirits are cheaper there. Enough to warrant a visit when buying a couple of bottles of strong liquor (also, I did this when living in another city near the border as a student and hopped the border for just this purpose frequently) (also it doesn't hurt I can pick up some good German beer as well as it's mostly represented in our stores with the standard boring stuff)

 

Now my question is if there are any supermarkets that are recommended for a good choice in Whiskeys. (I believe you guys mostly don't have specialized liquor stores but instead sell everything in supermarkets)

(used to invade Germany at Gronou (westfalen) but am now closer to Meppen if that is of any importance)

Hey.... I Do Not Drink Andy Alcohol, but usual Whiskey in the Class between 10€ and 60€ Are stelled in Every bigger store like Edeka, Real, Markt Kauf .... With more than 30€ Most Whiskey You Van Start Not to mix IT with Cola or so on

Special Whiskey with a higher Price and Taste ... No idea...

I used to use the specialist places often found in industrial estates. They are normally privately run and don't have a chain. 

 

It's one of these that you buy beer in bulk and take your bottles back for half price beer next time. Often they have huge spirit deals too.

 

Another option if you have contacts. Find an American army base. Depends on your location. But they have huuuge savings on pub sized bottles. 3 leters of Smirnoff vodka for 18 euros was the price I got it for. All main brand spirits often in same price range.
