Hyperspin set up - RocketLauncherUI fails to initilize error?

Hi all,

New member here. I am having some issues getting past what seems to be simple task. I am following this guide: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/2187-how-to-install-hyperspin/

I get to step 6 in the guide where I am supposed to launch RocketLauncherUI, but seem to not be doing something right. I get an error message indicating that the UI exe file fails to launch correctly. I extracted the compatibility fix and all into my rocketlauncher folder.

Could someone quickly verify I am setting my paths correctly and have extracted my folders correctly? I hope this doesn't seem extremely simple of me to ask, but this is the third time I've completely deleted everything and reinstalled. I believe it's something small I'm overlooking on my part. I would greatly appreciate the help. Thanks!

where did the

Rocketlauncher/Hyperlaunch.exe

Rocketlauncher/Hyperlaunch.ahk

Rocketlauncher/Hyperlaunch.ini

come from?   this does not belong here,  since you are using Rocketlaucher they do not belong in your PC.

you can also delete

Hyperspin/Hyperlaunch.exe

Hyperspin/Hyperlaunch.ahk

Hyperspin/Modules

Hyperspin/7z.dll

Hyperspin/7z.exe

Hyperspin/Autohotkey.dll

Hyperspin/~ Install Instructions

do you have Netframework 4.0 installed?

hyperlaunch does not equal rocketlauncher. But it seems you may have something else going on as well.

Thanks for the response. Are you referring to the path under the ini settings file?

It looks like you are on Windows XP.

You will need Service Pack 3 and .Net Framework 4.0

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17851

The HyperLaunch he/she is using is not actually hyperlaunch but just an executable that forwards commands from HyperSpin to RocketLauncher. HyperSpin 1.3.3 and below need a proxy executable or the rocketlauncher transition tool. The proxy executable is less of a headache to deal with in the long run and in the short term than the transition tool.

Those rocket launcher files are what was extracted from the Hyperspin and RocketLauncher Compatibility Fix.zip in step 5. I was supposed to launch the exe contained in there and was supposed to change the path in the hyperlauch file. Great, will clean up the folder, As far as Netframwork 4.0 I'm pretty sure i don't as I just recently installed a fresh copy of XP on my pc. Is this something I need to correctly set up Hyperspin? I apologize for the question, but the guides I am referring to didn't seem to mention this so just wondering.

You are indeed correct. Thank you for the suggestions! Will refer to the links you provided. I will report back with my results once I've gone through those.

I"m going to assume this is  Rocketlauncher renamed  to  Hyperlaunch.  this makes it compatible with Hyperspin 1.3 and avoids you using the transition tool

No it is not Rocketlauncher renamed to hyperlaunch. It's an ahk script recompiled as an exe. The code for the script can be found in the hyperlaunch.ahk

I wrote the proxy executable so I should know.

If you renamed rocketlauncher.exe, rocketlauncher would break everytime you tried to update rocketlauncher.

Thanks for all the help thus far guys. Y'all were right about needing the NET framework 4.0. I was able to go through the entire install guide. Just need to setup my roms correctly now. If its of any interest to anyone, I was receiving a "cannot read from a closed text reader error" when attempting to apply the updates to rocket launcher. I had to update my rocket launcher Ui to the one in  the followig thread: http://www.rlauncher.com/forum/showthread.php?970-error-Cannot-read-from-a-closed-text-reader/page2
