thcdgaf Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 i need basic tutorial on mess core in retroarch i search google but dont find anything any help appreciate
SIMPLYAUSTIN Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 To be honest mate the retroarch mess, is a mess. Yes you will more than likely be able to get it to run. But in the end it offers no more features than normal mess. In fact probably less. You see you are trying to run another emulator through an emulator. Many of MESS's stand out features are lost when run through RA. If it is being done for a certain reason then forgive my views. But if it's just for ease, trust me, it's a can of worms. Dunk3000 Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I agree with Austin. For me, Retroarch adds functionality and ease of use to a lot of other emulators so I use it for those. But mess already has those features and ease of use so I didn't complicate it by adding anotber layer. If someone knows a compelling reason to use ra for mess, then please share and I will try it out, thanks Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
thcdgaf Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Well was going use it for 7800,5200,and Amstrad but that's about it Sent from my LGL34C using Tapatalk
trebukenz Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Use the Atari 7800 (Prosystem) core in Retroarch for the Atari 7800, it works easily enough. MESS for the other two. I have had no luck getting either of those working with Retroarch, but as they said MESS works just as well. Actually, you will probably want to also use Kat5200 emulator for the Atari 5200, either instead of MESS or as in addition to. The 5200 games are not all working with either emulator; I have had better luck with Kat5200.
thcdgaf Posted July 16, 2015 Author Posted July 16, 2015 Well through countless hours finally figured retroarch mess core you have to setup mess first and then point to RETROARCH\ system folder for whatever emulator your wanting to play such as Amstrad GX4000 TELL IT DIRCTORY YOUR ROMS ARE IN then setup up RLUI SUCH AS AMSTRAD GX4000 then set default emu to Retroarch and ROMS to where games are they work in zip but I'm going try unzipped see if it's better works better in mess by itself make sure you highlight system you working on then click on modules from there should edit global settings and fill in bios for mess would be in for example in C:\Retroarch\System also setup full screen to true settings vary for each system it should work though I would put link but no sure they allowed to site that helped thanx everyone Sent from my LGL34C using Tapatalk

I'm going back to MESS proper. Shame because my other experiences with Retroarch have been top notch.
thcdgaf Posted August 4, 2015 Author Posted August 4, 2015 If you got mess working stand alone all you gotta do is copy roms bios to system in retroarch and then Amstrad gx4000 will boot up but gotta have config renamed to gx4000. If you need anymore help pm :-* :-) Sent from my LGL16C using Tapatalk
