newoski Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Hi Guys, I'm totally stumped. I had PlayChoice-10 games working a few weeks ago, but now I'm running into a black screen whenever I press Enter after inserting a coin. Anyone have any ideas how to fix?
gigapig Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Have you assigned a key to the Enter command? By default its "-"
newoski Posted September 2, 2015 Author Posted September 2, 2015 Have you assigned a key to the Enter command? By default its "-" Yes, I set it to enter -- which I have as an admin button on my panel. As soon as I hit that button or Enter on the keyboard, the screen goes black. I'm using the 16x9 0 video setting -- which puts the game section onto one screen
gigapig Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 I have tested a few like Contra and ExciteBike and they work fine. The only things I can think of are if you have switched over to using Mame bezels instead of RL bezels. If Mame bezel artwork isn't it can give a black screen but you can hear sound. The other is the Roms and Mame version don't match. And one more, turn off any shaders. And another maybe something is screwy with the config files. Backup the cfg folder somewhere and then delete the contents. The config files will be recreated and doing so will wipe out your key maps so make sure you do the back up.
newoski Posted September 2, 2015 Author Posted September 2, 2015 So I have no idea how it was working before, unless I simply forgot that I set it up before and it has since been corrupted -- but the solution is to set MAME to the "single" bios for PlayChoice-10. This puts all the game stuff on 1 screen. That said, it's not possible to do it in cfg files for MAME. The workaround I found was to create per game settings in RLUI for MAME. parameters -bios single Works perfectly. Then just set your video mode to 16:9 screen 0 and you're all set Big thanks to gigapig for pointing out the bios options in the mame menu
