Steam setup/startup issues

Hi all.  I have gotten Steam installed and working.  My game loads and is playable, but when I try and load it via hyperspin, the screen goes dark, sounds start and then returns to hyperspin.  When I exit hyperspin, the game is running but minimised.  

 

Can anyone offer any suggestions on what I can look at to fix this?

A bit more info is required like are you using RocketLauncher to launch the game and is it up to date?

Which version of HyperSpin are you running?

 

Perhaps post your logs as well.

Oops.  Sorry.  Yes, I am using RocketLauncher and HyperSpin 1.4b.  The game runs fine if I run it directly through rocketlaucherui to test.  But once I open HS and select the game, it does what I described.  The game I'm playing is Portal.

 

Can't post my logs right this min, but if you think they are needed, I'll grab them asap.

I was going to make a thread about this same issue cditty. I have the exact thing happening with Raiden III Digital Edition. I did have to create a fade in for Raiden III to work properly if that means anything to someone that knows more than me. My other steam games work just fine. It is a big issue unfortunately because once this happens it leaves raiden 3 minimized and does not allow any more steam games to launch. I too have the same versions of rocketlauncher and hyperspin. If anyone has any tips it would be greatly appreciated!

I was able to get mine fixed last night.  What I did was this.  Clear out both the appwaitexe and the fade boxes.  Click on the gear for the appwaitexe and find the exe for the game.  (Don't remember the path. Sorry)  Next, click on the fade box and click launch on the popup.  I waited until the main main screen loaded.  (The screen with all the actual game options.) Hit ctrl-q.  Exit the game and then hit ok.  

 

That's all I did and now it works.  I don't have any other stream games at the moment so I couldn't test it on anything else.

Well dang. I thought I was gonna be ok. It seems almost intermittent...sometimes it starts and plays without minimizing and sometimes it does not. Mostly it does minimize and throw my whole setup off. Now Raiden IV OverKill is doing the same. It's only these two games. The other 3 I have work fine every time. Any one else have any ideas why these steam games would be doing this? Its killing me. I have tried what cditty mentioned and they are still problems. Any info at all really appreciated!!
