albert_c Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 I am wondering if it is just me or the PC I am setting up (a Dell Precision 390 i5 Win7 based PC). Setting it up for a buddy and it will eventually go into a CRT based cab. But right now, when I launch a game from the command line, seems the audio skips or is smeared. But when i exit out of the game, the command line window reports no frame drops? I haven't yet tried it on another PC. Anyone having audio issues in MAME 0.166? albert_c Posted October 25, 2015 Author Posted October 25, 2015 So no one has MAME 0.166, or no one with MAME 0.166 has audio issues? When you find great deals on Craigslist for CRT based cabs, exuberance can be a bad thing! Current status of cabs: 0/5 working as desired :wallbash:
joe35car Posted October 25, 2015 Posted October 25, 2015 Mine works fine. What kind of sound issues are you having? Maybe update your sound card driver?

This is a fresh install of Windows7. I hope it is not an issue with the drivers. No less, this machine is going into a cab and Windows7 isn't the best to handle resolutions needed to drive an old CRT arcade monitor. Perhaps a drop down to WinXP may solve the problem. If it was a widespread issue there would probably be posts all over the place about it. I would bet that the problem lies either with your hardware or configuration. Also, 0.167 releases on 10/28. I am thinking it is hardware too. But that is not easily solved as audio works fine in all other apps. 0.167 would likely inherit the issues. Going to see if a downgrade to XP 32-bit solves it. Out of curiosity, are you running a custom version of MAME? I have this problem using GroovyMAME and the official build from mamedev.org.
