somail Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Hi everyone, I plan on redoing my current system and would like to use box art for my console systems (NES/SNES/Genesis). This is one of the sets I plan on using: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/11895-sega-genesis-box-set-project/ I know this is a very beginner level question, but how do you guys normally set up a system with box art? Does the box art go into the Media/[system]/Wheel folder or it is used in a different manner. I originally tried the wheel folder, but was not a big fan of the results. Is there a best practice of set up guide on using box art? A search pulled up this thread: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/267-those-artwork-folders/ unfortunately it was not very helpful. Thanks for the help.
Tomkun Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Boxart usually goes in the artwork3 folder, but that's just by convention. Think of each folder as a layer; anything you put in the folder will go on that layer. Artwork4 is usually disc/cart art, and sits on top of the box art. I have mine set up so that any game which doesn't have its own theme uses the default theme and shows its boxart and discart.
THK Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 look into the default theme zip > open the theme.xml > look for the artwork1-4 layer that is in the xml that is not in the zip file > put the box art into the corresponding folder ..........................back with a vengeance........................
somail Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 Okay got it. So normal convention would be to have wheel art, videos, and box art. The box art would then follow the behavior assigned to artwork 3 (defined by theme.xml). I guess I did not understand that all three media types (wheel, video, box) could co-exist. Thanks for the help.
