steelseth Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 I set up hyperspin for the kids on an old laptop(core2duo) until I can get a proper system setup. Everything was working great except that at random times the controls in the menu stop working. The joysticks dont work, buttons dont work, the laptop keyboard isnt working, but the video of the game it got stuck on continues playing. I press ctrl+alt+del on the keyboard to open task manager and end task hyperspin. I can see from the task manager that nothing is taking up too much resources. I launch it again and everything is working again for an hour or so until it gets stuck again. Any ideas guys ? Thanks.
Spawk Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Hi. If everything was working for some time, it sounds like HS is simply losing focus (possibly only when exiting a certain emulator). Try clicking somewhere on the HS screen with the mouse next time it happens. If the controls return, then you'll know it's a focus issue. Unfortunately it's impossible to say for sure without more information. Are you running HS 1.3 or have you moved to 1.4 which supposedly fixes joystick issues (I can't confirm this as I have been using a keymapper forever). Do you use a keymapper? Startup script? The more information you can give, the better.
steelseth Posted November 28, 2015 Author Posted November 28, 2015 Im using HS 1.4 and the joysticks work from a keyboard encoder so I dont think thats the problem. Clicking with the mouse didnt help. I also set Restore Frontend on exit to "Restore and Click" in RL but that did make much difference. As a temporary solution I used an AHK script to force close HS and RL and mapped it to a key combination of the box buttons. For now the kids can close and start HS on their own when it crashes until I find a solution.

So, isn't the problem here that the joytokey profile for HyperSpin isn't being loaded when your moving back to HyperSpin? Do you have RLUI set to load your joytokey profile for HyperSpin when returning from a game? That's something to check. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
steelseth Posted November 29, 2015 Author Posted November 29, 2015 The joysticks are normal arcade sticks with micro switches and Im using an Atmel Minimus32 AVR as a keyboard encoder so there is no need for joytokey as the joysticks are recognized as a keyboard.
iNTiGOD Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 First thing. Let's rule out your key config setup in hyperhq. Can you post a pic of your keys for hyperhq. (Remember joystick should be off). Secondly post a screen grab of your navigation/theme settings in hyperhq for the freezing system eg. Mame MAME High Score Tutorial For HyperSpin
