Tribe Fan Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Hi all, I just created a PERFECT, working, no "bizarre hentai mahjong" MAME database using Don's HyperSpin List Generator. Once you figure out how it works, it's nothing short of freaking awesome! Here's my question. How do I go about adding new games to my existing XML (preferably without accidentally screwing something up)? Thanks!
emb Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Open up the list generator. Specify mame as the wheel, specify your filtered mame list as your output file, and specify the default hyperlist file containing all the roms in the system. If you clobbered over it, you can download a new one from the hyperlist site. Click scan. All the games in your filtered list will be already marked as output. Its also a good idea to backup your file before hand. There is a video tutorial out on the third party section for more details on this if needed. Glad you like the tool! Tribe Fan Posted June 7, 2013 Author Posted June 7, 2013 Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks! Amazing work on the tools too...
idolwild Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 I'm having some massive confusion here - I have my games in the ROM folder, I have a new list downloaded for the Source XML, I have my mamelist.xml defined - everything looks right, but when it scans, the list comes up with no games detected. What am I doing wrong?
Min2001 Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 You need to set the rom locations with HyperHQ. Set up the system using the main menu wizard and rom locations with HyperHQ then go back and select the correct wheel from the pulldown. (use one of the xml lists downloaded from hyperlist as your source xml, then put in your mamelist.xml)
idolwild Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Yes I did that. I've given up on MAME for the time being and am trying NES since it's a smaller ROM set. I have defined my Emulator and ROM path in HyperHQ. This time, I sent the ROM's through Don's renaming tool and using CRC checking it found the majority of NES ROM's and renamed them to the standard in the NES list downloaded from HyperList. Then, I put that into the List Generator and again, it's saying I don't have any of the games - I'm missing some critical step here, I just can't figure out what it is.
aza9999 Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I'm having the same problem with the list generator not finding any of my games using don's hypertools 4.2.6 The path to the executable and roms is set in both hyperHQ and hyperlaunchHQ http://i.imgur.com/1fONsGF.png Don's list generator see's the correct path when i hit scan http://i.imgur.com/rdoHW15.png The roms are in the directory and correctly named http://i.imgur.com/DUTC7Yr.png Hyperspin launches and plays the games, but the list generator tool doesn't show the games as being there http://i.imgur.com/n48PcHB.png I've downloaded the latest mame.xml from the hyperlist site (after trying the one that came with the hyperspin 1.3.2 install) Any idea on what i'm doing wrong? I've previously used the tool when i was doing a hyperspin setup last year and it worked, so maybe i should try an earlier version of don's hypertools?
emb Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Add zip to your mame extensions in hyperhq Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Tapatalk HD %5BSIGPIC%5D[/sIGPIC] Download HyperSpin Tools and check out my MAME cabinet
aza9999 Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I knew it must have been something simple I missed! Thanks, I'll give it a go when I finish work
Frogybloop Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Im having the same problem, but only with my dreamcast romset. All games are located in subfolders as .gdi files, i have HyperHQ set to search subfolders for the gdi extension... and yet dons list generator can't seem to find the roms. Any advice?
