Rearrange your main menu?

If I want to change the order of my systems in the main menu... do I simply edit the MAIN MENU.XML (cut & paste to whatever I like) or is the proper way to just remove the system and add it back?

Thanks!!!

definitely allows you to make it more personal... the last few days I picked up a few good tips from the folks on these forums.. that plus I've been spending less time looking for stuff and actually enjoying and tweaking what I already have... I'll have my hyperspin the way I want it in no time. first battle was to figuring out HS and RL (RL still learning stuff).. next battle was getting FORBIDDEN FRUIT (which I already had and knew all the sources to get it from) next battle getting the ARTWORK and making my own if needed..... did all that.

I have the fabric... now it's time to become the tailor and custom it to my fit/style.

I order mine by age of system

I do, too, but I have MAME and Naomi grouped at the top... select consoles in age order thereafter.

I had mines something like MAMAE and the arcades at the top.. then Atari systems from A2600 up... then NES... then SEGA... etc.. etc.. but I like the idea of having the systems lined up as I remember them (for me even if the way I remember them isn't exactly when they were released) off the top of my head for the consoles... (for the stuff I have) A2600, Colecovision, 5200, 7800, NES, Sega Master System, TurboGFX, Genesis, SNES, etc....

that's how I remember them even if the timing is off.

whoa! thanks to BACKUPS! I copied my HS to my external drive that I keep all my ROMS and game videos on.... and thumbs up for that because I guess I deleted all the content when I took some systems off my HS... at the time I guess I was like who needs em... but someone on the forums mentioned that they use multiple main menu.xml's so that got me thinking I could have my main setup and just have another main menu setup for archival purposes (basically keep all the systems and not just the ones I actually play) anyways today when I was adding systems back.. I noticed the ARTWORK was gone.. and I was running around trying to find it.... then I remembered I had a backup!!! ahhhh man... I say all that to say.... for those that haven't... MAKE A BACKUP!!!! save yourself the headache now!

I second that as I have only just got my systems back since I lost a drive a month ago. Now backing up is as important as getting an emulator to work , Now I can get back to helping out with the media again

yeah, it's crazy because years ago when space was issue we would kill to back up our systems..now we can back up 5 systems on one drive and a lot of times we still don't back up like we should... just glad I had the idea to copy my HS setup to my external drive and glad I did it before I started removing systems so it was a perfect copy of my original HS with all the systems and artwork.
