My first cabinet build, X-Men theme

This is my first attempt at creating an arcade cabinet.

I had two goals: 1) To see if I could do it and 2)to do it as cheaply as possible

I had to settle on an X-Arcade Stick for time reasons...way simpler than wiring the controls myself

I decided on an X-Men theme since I play a lot of Marvel vs Capcom as well as grew up playing the X-Men arcade game...for the graphics I used Fatheads..recently, I saw my Wolverine laying on the floor in a jumbled mess, i fixed him and used some spray glue to hold him up...might have to do that to the rest of the characters

The other side of the cabinet has graphics of Nightcrawler and Colossus..I can't find the pics of them right now

Pretty much everything I used for this cabinet I had laying around..except for the Tankstick and cabinet itself. The cabinet was a TMNT cabinet that was turned into a Golden Tee cabinet.

Let me know what any of you guys think

For sure use a bigger screen, you will be much happier. I got a 26" Vizio in mine and thats without it decased, probably could fit a slightly larger one. My TMNT cabinet was a killer instinct conversion so I restored it back to its glory, except put a PC in it with hyperspin and pretty much every 2 button Konami game there is. If you ever need graphics for this cabinet let me know, $250 gets you an entire kit like shown here on my cab, marquee graphic, kickpanel, sides, control panel graphic, and even monitor bezel graphic. And I could do X-Men instead of turtles for ya.

26" fits nicely in this cabinet.

And here I am installing the graphics, super easy.. and I got some sweet porn music going in the background.. LOL!

I made it so that I can easily replace the screen. As I said, I tried doing this as cheaply as possible. I had that screen collecting dust and the x- men fatheads were already there. I'm the kind of person that gets really bored with stuff, so there is a good chance I convert it to tmnt. The screen will definitely get upgraded once I get my hands on one

But thanks for the comments, I think that once I have a bit more cash I'll think about getting those graphics and a new screen, I am always on the lookout for a new screen.

RidicRick, very cool stuff, I will keep you in mind for the future,

thanks again

  • 1 month later...

I was able to come across an AOC 27" monitor...so I added it to my arcade

As for the TMNT theme, I think I am gonna stick with the X-Men theme just because I do not have the money for the artwork or restoring the control panel. I may have my brother design me something for the control panel overlay on my Tankstick.
