Hello fellow Hyperspiners, I'm glad I came across this site since I almost purchased hard drive configured with Hyperspin. Some months ago I got a job as arcade technician, I looked into working in arcades since my major is computer electronics and I currently work as computer tech. I just did it to get some extra cash. Once I started working there I realized how easy is to fix arcade machines, really an arcade machine is composed of a monitor, buttons joysticks, cabinet, monitor and computer. So far I done minimal work, anyways so I got the idea to build an arcade for myself. I started by ready a lot, I still have a long way to go but at least I started by buying wood, router, bits, drill, screws, leftover cables. I downloaded some plans that I cant find at this moment, anyways I will post my progress hopefully tomorrow morning so you guys that have more knowledge can help me out by giving constructive critique, unfortunately new years is around the corner so family first.

Believe it or not, I thought about taking a machine home, but don't want to come on the news. Its more rewarding to build my own. I know I have a long way to go, but for now I keep working in the arcade place. So I reimaged my computer and at this moment its downloading roms.

So sides are done

Computer has been reimaged,

Hyperspin has been downloaded

hyperlauncher has been doloaded

Ipac board has arrived

joystiks and buttons have arrived

board where buttons are going to be placed is complete, I think

Edges on side boards have been smooth out

I will try to post my progress as it comes along

Luckily my father in-law is master carpenter and he is giving me advice

So finally I got HyperSpin and RocketLauncher working together, its a pain, but its rewarding when I was able to get them working in harmony. Then I got some roms and that was another dilemma, I downloaded MAME 0.169 but when I launch it I got a bunch of errors, such mame.ini was not found and other errors that I don't recall. Then after searching in this forum, don't recall the name, but that person was king enough to post MAME 0169 with the required files and it was modified with no nag, high score and other stuff. Finally at 2 AM was able to open MAME 0.169 and told where roms where located and viola roms loaded with no issues and I was able to launch it from HyperLaunch. For me it was relief since I been working on this for a month now, family and holidays did not let me dedicate much time. I really feel accomplish, hopefully today I would be able to get the rest of the wood I need to get the cabinet at least standing.

I would like to thank the folks that keep this site running, people that post issues and resolutions, but specially SimpleAustin. If it wasn't for his videos I will be stuck, anyways thanks for all the help.

Next loading NES and SNES

I will post my progress soon

You work in an arcade?

You should just steal a machine and convert it. Make it look like a robbery then blame it on some local kids.

Make sure to spray a fire extinguisher around like you were fending them off!

"So finally I got HyperSpin and RocketLauncher working together... For me it was relief since I been working on this for a month now..."

I find this amusing... I've been working on MAME and other emus and roms and controls for 10+ years and * still * run into issues.  Because of updated emus and roms, new versions of HS, RL and everything else, it is quite the perpetual cycle.

Trying to get emulators to run and configure properly... trying to get certain roms to run, HyperSpin to execute, themes/art/bezels to show up...  it's an ongoing thing that never ends.  To this day I still pull my hair out every week or two — what little hair I have left.  ha

But it is so worth it!!

Hello guys, well I have made some progress, not as I wanted but slowly it moving forward. I been messing MAME, finally it loads fine and roms load properly, I got joysticks and buttons installed. When I was ready to start wiring, I misplaced the terminals, dam I was so mad. But well, now I need to buy another pack of terminals, hopefully do the wiring this coming weekend. So my plans for the weekend are to pick up the fiber wood to complete the cabinet, purchase the terminals for the buttons and joysticks (Fry's is too far from my house), pickup the cable I purchased HDMI to DVI, try to finish all the wood work; hopefully mount the 32" tv. Probably I'm getting ahead of myself, but that's my goal. Unfortunately I work at the milf place Thursday's and Friday's so I wont have much time to finish installing retroarch. I installed RetroArch but I got the dll error. Does anyone have the link to download DirectX 9?

Well guys that all for now, I will post my progress later

Hey guys, well some progress has be done. I was able to cut the remainder of the wood needed for the cabinet. 45 angles are not easy, but not impossible. Got the wiring for the buttons and joysticks done, not working properly, but I know where I messed up. NES roms have been loaded with retroarch, but sound is bad when I launch a game. After reading some post I found out I need to disable vsync in retroarch and make sure drivers for sound card are updated, so that's planned for tonight. So slowly is moving along, do any of you know someone that can print graphics or have the files so I can take them somewhere to be printed? let me know the price so I can start saving up, I hope by this weekend have the cabinet assembled. The more I get into this site and project, the more I love it, soon I will become platinum. Thanks guys for all the information

Finally I feel a made progress. So I kept having issues with RetoArch as far as chopi sound, tried many configurations such turning off vsync and shudders. Watched SimpleAustin videos over and over and read all 600+ comments on videos and same thing.  I read and read RetroArch forums and same issue, i even reimaged my computer since I changed many configurations and modified my roms. I really was to the point of trashing my computer. After taking a day off from HyperSpin I came across RetroArch 1.2.2 and finally I saw the light, after running RetroArch 1.2.2 and updating it, I opened NES rom and viola, it worked with no issues. Then I had to copy the files SimpleAustin provided on video tutorial and bezels and media loaded with no issues. So once again I fixed my own issue with the help of SimpleAustin videos and HyperSpin forums. Then I proceeded to continue working on the pending wood items, still needs work but at least cabinet is standing.

Many thanks to the people that take the time to assist noobs like me
