zorrobandito Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I have the Amiga setup using WinUAELoader and it loads most games cleanly and simply. The fly in the ointment is the exceptions. A few games don't quite run right on my system and I'd like to make modifications that apply just to them. For example: Stunt Car Racer & the TNT version have flickering graphics on the track. They need some CPU or RAM tuning (I've had them working without HS). Skidmarks - I'd like to load a uss snapshot instead of using WHDLoad with all of the mouse controls skipped. How do I do this in Hyperspin? Also, how do I modify the uae file to change the base Amiga system? In HS the answer seems to lie with Alternate Emu Mapping and the games.ini. I can point to a different emulator launcher but not a whole command line? Regarding the uae files, AFAIK, WinUAELoader pulls its config from Gamebase.uae as per the data\WinUAELoader.ini file [Config] OverwriteConfigs=True AmigaConfigFile=C:\Hyperspin\Emulators\WinUAELoader\Data\Configs\A500.UAE which suggests that it overwrites the settings it pulls and simply uses the A500.uae config as the default. Confused.
gigapig Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I haven't used WinUAE Loader for some years and a quick look at the module seems to suggest it doesn't use per game configs, however WinUAE does. My advice would be to try setting up WinUAE as most people here use it and would be able to give you more help. Here is an excellent guide which should get you started, also look to the signature of user "Turranius" for some useful files. Good luck.
Turranius Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Yeah, have a look at my signature =) Mame related stuff: FTP: grandis.nu, port 21, user:misc, pass:misc http://grandis.nu/software Tur-Matcher - Match your roms/media/XML files. zorrobandito Posted January 26, 2016 Author Posted January 26, 2016 Thanks for your help and suggestions BTW. I eventually got it to work by following headkaze's excellent advice: "WinUAE uses the GameBase Amiga database to configure all the games. You can edit the WinUAELoader\Data\WHDLoad.xml file to edit the defaults for games." By turning most of the uae config settings there to true, e.g. cpu_exact_cycle=true, I fixed sound issues in Speedball 2 and graphics glitches in Stunt Car Racer + TNT.
