Everything working perfectly, then I did something I shouldn't have.

The main point to all this is: I ran anti-virus software and it deleted HyperHQ.

Hi all - I've had an arcade machine for just a few days and have been checking it all out and seeing how it works. I have become familiar with HyperHQ and everything was going well. I was reading through the forums here, trying to learn what xml files were and how I might be able to introduce PS1+2 games to the machine.

Unfortunately, the previous owner seemingly allowed the Windows machine and the browsers to become overcome by malware. Every time I tried to navigate around, pop-ups would appear, pages would redirect. It annoyed me, so I installed and ran AVG, which found 36 'trojans'. I didn't read through the list and promptly archived all the files. Now HyperHQ is gone and I can't seem to find a direct download. I did, however, find a webpage that told me that some anti-virus programs detect HyperHQ as malware and deletes it. Great news.

Can anyone help me get HyperHQ back? Do I just reinstall Hyperspin and if I do, is that going to upset what has already been done on the machine?

On a side note, does anyone know why the Windows task bar disappears forever once HyperSpin loads up? Thanks in advance!

Maybe there's a better way than this, but I would reinstall Hyperspin and if it asks you to overwrite any files, just say no. It shouldn't affect your setup negatively because it will only add files that you don't have ie HyperHQ.

Also make sure to add HyperHQ as an exception in AVG under advanced settings. Actually, I would add the entire Hyperspin folder as an exception. That's what I did because I've had the same issue using AVG.

Best of luck to you.

I had this same issue when i first started hyperspin you may find it better and quicker if you redownload to a zip state the turn of all virus software. I know sounds dodgy but this will delete hyper hq or demon tools or something you will need for the program to run perfectly. I found that nortan even if turned off when turned back on it still likes to delete things so not sure about that lol.

anti-virus software = garbage.... most I do is scan whatever I have to with the microsoft security crap thats bundled in windows on my main internet laptop and then I copy/move the stuff to my dedicated laptops that never even touch the internet.... I download from trusted sources and even when the sources are less than trustworthy... im not an idiot so I don't download from SUSPECT SOURCES that are KNOWN for problems.

the fact that anti-virus software thinks "SAFE" software is a virus... means you can't even trust it to actually find the real problems.

my theory on using computers is go RAMBO and be safe and if you run into problems NUKE the sucker and start over.. keyword of the day "BACKUP"
