hi there, i customized all the controls in MAME but for whatever reason cannot find the hyperspin "enter" button on my joystick. i highlight MAME for instance in hyperspin and no button my joystick will select MAME. once i am in a game, the controls mapped and work fine.

any idea? i can scroll up and down with the joy stick in hyperspin, even enter favorites menu. just can't select anything

yep, i have tried that. so i go into controls, then Joystick (enable) and everything is set correctly however the only button that seems to work is the Exit button

hmm...this is a good point...i always thought an arcade stick was seen as a joystick?

i know the keys are being translated "correctly" by the computer (ie: in WordPad, i press the buttons on the arcade stick and the correct keystrokes appear).

my main issue is that i have to press ENTER on my keyboard to select in HyperSpin but there is no button on my arcade stick that is ENTER.

i feel like i am close but i just dont' know if i should change something in WinIac or on the hyperspin side

thanks!

Just set your start button to be whatever you want it to be in HyperHQ.

For example mine is set as "1" so the player 1 button on my cab enters wheels and starts games.

while i have you guys, what's your advice for organizing MAME games? genre's are nice but it would be cool to have a MAME sub menu like "Matt's Favorites" where it's my friend's favorite 10 games.

i can use hyper HQ to create the menu but then i cannot seem to make the xml file it pulls roms from. it seems like you physically have to move the roms..

You don't need to move roms around.

Each wheel in Hyperspin is pulled from a database. So you add an XML database that only has whatever games you want that wheel/system to have in it.

For example I have a main Arcade Classics wheel, but also several major manufacturer wheels. They all pull from the same rom folder, but each has it's own database with just the correct games listed in it. You could simply cut/paste from the XML you already use for MAME, or use Don's Hyper Tools to create an XML or whatever...

So making Matt's Favorites is as easy as making an XML/DB with just those 10 games.

Of course you still need to set up the rest (RocketLauncher, media, any changes in system settings etc...)

Your controls isn't a joystick, so why are you setting it up as if it is?

since you often post naive responses, indicating that you're not sure what we mean when we say you're a bit unhelpful, this is the perfect example. a few more words, actually explaining how keyboard encoders function with hyperspin, and you'd be seen as helpful. instead... it's just more of the same
