GameCube error with intro videos

Hello,

I am newer to Hyperspin and emulation, and love having those intro videos as you are scrolling through games. I set it up with every system the exact same way, I currently have about 25 systems ranging from Atari to Dreamcast. For some reason, the only system they aren't working on is GameCube.

To load them, I got the lifetime subscription through Emumovies and use the HyperSync tool to load all the media. The Media is in the correct path as far as I can tell... as an example, I have Dreamcast working, and the path for that is E:\hyperspin\Media\Sega Dreamcast\Video. Same with the rest of the systems. The path for Gamecube is E:\hyperspin\Media\Nintendo GameCube\Video.  I went in to the Gamecube video folder and can see all the videos in there, but for some reason they do not play in hyperspin. I am out of ideas. If anyone has any suggestions for trouble shooting steps it would be greatly appreciated!

I can try and and provide any other information that might be helpful, just let me know.

Thank you.

They don't play on the main wheel or GameCube wheel?

Do the name of the video files match your rom files (obviously the .xxx will be different)?

They don't play in the GameCube wheel. The names match unless i'm missing something, I had to go through and edit all the ones that didn't match up when I was testing them out in RocketLauncher. You can see the set up in the below. Appreciate your guys responses. It's a small cosmetic thing, the games work and everything, just really want the vids on there. Gamecube is my favorite system, so of course it's the one i'm messing up somehow haha.

Incorrect. They must match the database, not the roms.

Sorry, I assumed that they matched the database. Both the video names and rom names must match the database you're using to work.

Did you create your own DB file for these?

NP, appreciate the help. No, didn't create my own database, I downloaded the database file from this site I believe. In the past, the roms I obtained for other systems were labeled as "HyperSpin Ready", but the GameCube roms I got were not listed as such. I had to do a lot more renaming of Roms to ensure they matched what was shown in Rocketlauncher when I was getting Rocketlauncher to recognize the games. I am thinking that somehow has something to do with this... since the other roms were hyperspin ready downloads all the names and everything matched up perfectly so I didn't have to do as much on my end to get them working, where as with these I am sure I missed doing something to get these to work. But as far as I can tell the videos match the rom names which match the database.

See below for the first couple games listed in the database and how they match up against the ROMS. When I go in to the GameCube wheel, all the games are there but none of the videos load. None of the cartridge artwork either, but i'm not as concerned with that.

Even though the videos don't play can you launch and play a GameCube game via HyperSpin? If you can, the database and roms are fine and the problem must be with the videos.

Check your video path for the GameCube wheel in HyperHQ to make sure it is correct. If you double click a GameCube video outside HyperSpin, does it play?

what exactly do you mean by they don't play in hyperspin

do you have a

blank screen,  black screen, white screen,  pixelated screen?

does the default  No video found play?

as mentioned check your HyperHQ settings and make sure that the path to the video folder is correct.

if it is and your names match try using a  different theme,  the theme you might be using could be bad.

Yup, the games work, no issues there. The path for the videos is set to the right place in hyperHQ. Almost thought that was it when you said that as I wasn't checking there.. thought hypersync automatically did that or something, but unfortunately the path was in there. And yeah the videos work when I clicked on them in the folder. I appreciate all your help man. It's probably me so I appreciate your patience with me haha. I'll keep messing with it. Worst case, I will start over and set it all up again like a new system.

Basically the name of the game shows up beneath, but where the video preview is usually playing it is just back. I screen capped what it looks like below.

I will try a different theme and report back, appreciate the response!

I'm embarrassed to have to ask this, but when you say change the theme, do you mean doing that through rocketlauncher? I usually just leave the themes however they were set up, or I did whatever SimplyAustin instructed me to do through youtube. Sorry man, not too knowledgeable about this.

go to

C:\HyperSpin\Media\Nintendo GameCube\Themes\

you should find a default.zip  theme their. Its either bad or more than likely you don't even have one.,  you should not have  a full black screen

the text at the bottom is default, not part of the theme.

replace the gamecube default theme with another one. (temporary)

get one that you know works and place it their,  (any theme will do,  make sure to rename it  Default.zip)

run hyperspin,  you should have graphics from the theme displayed in the screen and not a black screen.

Now that I see the back screen, I agree with 32assassin that your issue is the default theme or at least theme related. The theme places the video in a certain position. I don't think your videos are the issue.

Follow 32asssassin's steps or just rename C:\HyperSpin\Media\Nintendo GameCube\Themes\Default.zip and run HyperSync Cloud for just GameCube and it should pull the default.

I apologize in advance for the amount of screenshots to follow. You were correct, there was no default.zip in that folder, so hoping that is the problem. Below is what it looked like..

No idea how some of those themes got in there, but whatever. So I got a them from emumovies, see the below

I used the first and the second one, and put it in to that path you suggested, then renamed the file default so it looked like the below...

After trying each theme as the default, when I went in to hyperspin the it still looked like the below...

So no idea what i'm doing wrong, but again I appreciate all the help.

those themes are double zipped,  that is why they are giving you black screens.

if you would of tried another team you would of noticed that their was something wrong with your themes.

You have some shiz going on with your setup, why is free play in the middle.

No idea

I'm sorry man, I have no idea what that means. I am not a smart man. Are you able to Dr. Suess this for me and break it down as if you were speaking to a 4 year old, or as if you were speaking to someone who eats cereal with a fork?

What do you mean try another team? I learned of Hyperspin a couple of months ago so I am trying to familiarize myself by reading through these forums but I am still very new.

Is there any way to fix whatever I did or do you think I should just start over again with GameCube... all my other systems work great.

Thanks!

Still no idea why press start is in the middle of your screen though lol.

haha me either. I'm just happy the videos work! Another problem for a different day. Why do today what can be done tomorrow?
