Popful Mail - PC Engine CD-ROM crash?

Could anyone check Popful Mail on the Mednafen core for RetroArch?

The game crashes the emulator on the screen after the "Push Run" screen.

I tried multiple versions of the core and it all behaves the same.

Could anyone verify it? I cannot find any information about such incompatibility online.

I can boot it fine and play for a bit too. This seems like a game that needs Mednafen's default accuracy profile to run without glitches. I played for awhile until I got an unskippable cutscene that went black and froze...too bad there's no pce_accuracy core yet.

Mystery solved (but please don't delete the thread, might be useful)!

It appears that a few games will freeze if rewind is enabled for PCE-CD/TG16CD.

I disabled rewind and everything is back to normal.

Note that I don't have any problems with non-CD games with rewind enabled :)

And yes, my set is A-OK ;)

Yup. Out of pure curiosity, can you try enabling rewind and run it again?

I'm pretty sure you'll see what happened to me (and I wasted hours trying to figure out what's wrong :P)

I never use rewind, so it was already disabled when I was playing. I had to copy my save into stand alone Mednafen and run the game in that to fix the video glitches and get past the crash I had in the pce_fast core. The unskippable crash is after a boss that drops his head, right before you go to a cave where you can first use Tatto as a playable character. I guess I could copy my save back to RetroArch and continue there since I'm past that part.

This version of the game is pretty neat. The Sega CD version is probably still better, but I wouldn't mind a translation of this version since it's so different.
