If you haven't done already you may need to set the letter that your DT drive is using. You can find that out by mounting an image.

The guys have given you some great advice and you should be nearly there, the drive number thing usually causes the black screen issue. Don't forget it could be 0, 1, 2, 3, or even 4.

Wait so i can actually go into DTLite and click on my drives and see what number they are slotted in to confirm what number to put in there instead of guess and check? Whats the pathing on that? like do i go into where my DTLite is like for example C/Program Files/DTLite? or is this a different location usually?

You can do it that way or you can just single click the DTLite icon in your system icons tray at the right of the taskbar. Nomenclature is [sCSI - #] or [DT - #] where # is the drive number you'll want to see in your SSF.ini file.

Oh and im using Windows 7 64 bit. trying to avoid the windows 10 update as long as possible

That's good. Yes, Windows 10 has the potential to cause a lot of buttpain when it comes to setting up emulators in RocketLauncher. It's doable but you're wise to stick with Win7x64.

Some people need this parameter left blank. Not sure why but it's the only way it'll work for some people so if, after you get it working outside of HyperSpin, you get the CD screen through RocketLauncher, first set CDDRIVE in RLUI to your DTLite drive number. If that doesn't work, try leaving it blank. I'm one of those people who needs it left blank.

That's not always true. My SCSI shows 0 but the correct CDDrive for me is 2 (I've tried it with 0, doesn't work). I think that's just the Bus# but you need the actual Port#. Mine is on Bus 0, Port 2 and 2 is what works.

Oh, weird. Sorry for the bad info then. For me I get the right number showing up in the tray but it could just be a fluke.

OK back home.

Tried the hotkey to try and exit full screen right when it opens to black screen but didn't work

Also tried to change the .ini file CDDrive from 0 to 1 to 2 and to 3. When i try anything above 2 it automatically defaults back to 0 in the ini.

NOTE: I can stream on Twitch if someone wants to spend some time and help me while im live streaming it kind of like a teamviewer help situation. Just let me know bc im super confused lol

You're running it in compatibility mode you said right? Also, which version of SSF is it?

I am running as admin and the version i have is SSF Vers 0.12 R4

If i may need another version i wouldnt mind dumping this one and getting it as long as i knew where to get it ofc lol. i mean dumping this version and starting with a new one i think wouldnt put me too far back considering i havent been able to really use it yet lol. might just have to change some pathing in UI later.

The crazy thing is. In my SSF folder there is a folder that says TEST VERSION. and the SSF application in there. i can actually get it out of full screen. but the actually version i cant. makes no sense to me

Ok that's still the latest I believe. I keep R3 as well as I've found it works better for some games but that's personal preference.

In the SSF emulator directory delete Setting.ini and SSF.ini then start SSF.exe

Errr you didn't get that from anywhere I'd trust then if it has that folder in it. On second though, delete the whole SSF directory and re-download R4 or R3 (or both).

I got it from a zip file that Simply Austin supplied from the youtube tutorial on getting it set up. so i think thats where it came from lol where he got it from. no clue. But i did get it to run DragonForce lol. Just trying to start on the right foot now in RLUI

You should just need to set the drive number in the module settings in RLUI to match whichever one worked.

And the drive number should be the same thats in the ssf.ini file?

OMG i got it to run. OK so i can NOW play the game in SSF off of the RLUI. Now where should i start on getting it set up in RLUI first lol

That's good. Personally I'd still redownload it from the official source. Not just to be safe but also because you'll negate the possibility of running into further issues down the road.

Tried the disc drive it was set in the .ini and all drives from 0-4 and it does the same thing everytime. Black screen and crash but the ONE thing it also does. Is it actually plays the track 2 audio. the whole "WARNING THIS DISC IS FOR PLAY ON THE SEGA SATURN ONLY"

so its like its playing it but its opening wrong?

So i went into the module settings and changed it to fullscreen (False) and ran it. It didnt come up and crash it played the game through RLUI but also tried to play the whole "WARNING... thing the audio does". So i think my issue is full screen mode not working. Is there something in my settings that would be wrong for fullscreen?

It's really impossible to know what exactly could be wrong with it since the emulator was mucked with before you got it and if we do get it working there could be hidden issues that will pop up later. If you download R4 or R3 from the official source you'll be at least as far along as you are now (or it might fix all of your problems) and we'll know for certain what could be causing any lingering issues.

Ok so i downloaded that one. Might need the bios to put in there too. But now its saying the the drive is empty and i did go into options and select the drive for it to play from.

Now its saying the game disc is unsuitable for this system but when i press play in the SSF emulator it gives me the chipmonk saying this game is only intended to be played on the saturn lol. is this a bios issue?

Can just grab the bios from the old setup for now, they should be ok. When it says the drive is empty do you mean RL or SSF? You'll have to re-assign your CDDRIVE in the SSF ini and if nothing else works for CDDRIVE in RL try leaving it blank.

This does sound like a bios issue.

Ok so i pulled the bios folder from my other SSF folder and put it in the newly downloaded one from your link. Still getting same error though but the OTHER folder of ssf is still working with the same bios/setup. the .ini does show the same drive which in my case is '1'

You dropped the bios in there but did you set the paths in SSF? If you don't set the path it won't find them.

OK so i got different bios and changed pathing. It now works and runs. i still get the whole WARNING audio about the disc needing to be played from a saturn. i think it actually something that messed up from the first time i mounted the disc it came up and i clicked on something to play the disc DTLite and then its trying to play it as an audio from DTLite as well as now the sega saturn.

kinda like if i plug in my iphone it will automatically open up the folder. how do i make that stop through my computer lol
