hyperspidey Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Is there a simpler way to run project64 as an emulator? I had to jump through serious hoops to finally get it working properly. Im launching a batch file which strips the quotation marks and then launches project64 with just the rom name. I also had to remove all the spaces from my rom filenames. I also had to unpack project64.exe and mod it to change the behavior of the esc key, so that it would exit on esc press. I feel like this should not have been so difficult?
damageinc86 Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 wow, yeah, I've never had to do anything other than point rocketlauncher at project64.exe, and configure the actual emulator. But the roms being named different seems like just a renaming that needs to be done.
JoyStickKilla Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Yeah. You got some some unnecessary things going on with your side of things.
hyperspidey Posted February 22, 2016 Author Posted February 22, 2016 I am using hyperlaunch, which may be why. Nobody else has the quotation mark issue with project64's command line parameter?
JoyStickKilla Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Where do you get quotation marks at? But no, rl takes care of everything nice and easy.
Avar Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Like agent47 said, it sounds like your HS is badly dated. You'll wanna update to the latest version and install RocketLauncher. If you're having to mess with manually modifying modules to that extent, your build's ancient af.
hyperspidey Posted February 22, 2016 Author Posted February 22, 2016 My hs is 1.3.3, and using the hyperlaunch that was packaged with it. I might take a stab at rocketlauncher, but now that I have everything working.. I might not want to mess with it: )
Avar Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Your call, of course. However, I'd be remiss if I didn't advise you to backup everything you have and upgrade to HS1.4 and RocketLauncher. You don't risk losing your currently functional build and when it works you'll be able to take advantage of all the bug fixes and improvements, also RocketLauncher is pretty goddamn amazing. If you do upgrade and you're ever concerned about an update, just backup your RocketLauncher/Modules folder. Best of luck with whatever you choose.
hyperspidey Posted February 22, 2016 Author Posted February 22, 2016 I will probably do that in the near future, thanks! Gonna take a break from the software setup and get back to the last few things I have left to finish my cab, cant wait! Is there a place here to share cabinet pics?
SIMPLYAUSTIN Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Whatever road you go down mate. You will do well to avoid P64, there are far more emus for N64 out there that do a better job, more stable and no Malware etc. Devs kinda sold that emu out after the hyper train of the late 2000s and its only hanging on by the Plugins used and deved by others. hyperspidey Posted February 22, 2016 Author Posted February 22, 2016 Thanks Austin, I'll look into that. And thanks for your YouTube tutorials!
rastan Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I used to love Project64.... but that thing has been giving me problems left and right lately (crashes, blue screens, etc..) I said screw it and started using 1964.. About to hit google and see what else I need to checkout for N64 (RetroArch gives me problems..... but seems to be a good choice) I just added Mupen64plus... and it seems to work good for me.. I deleted every last version of PJ64 off my drive lol
