hyperspidey Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 I'm sure its been covered a hundred times, but.. Which tool would I use to quickly rename/match my rom files to the proper names? I found one tool to rename but it required manually clicking each file and then choosing a name.
Avar Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Don's HyperSpin Tools, then use the Rom Renamer option.
Avar Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Np. There's also clrmamepro, fatmatch, turmatcher I guess. I've come to rely upon Don's tools though in general. They're quite well done.
Turranius Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 I guess you meant that you tried Tur-Matcher. It asks you for every file. But its been changed lately so if you grab an up to date version, it no longer asks, one at a time. =) Mame related stuff: FTP: grandis.nu, port 21, user:misc, pass:misc http://grandis.nu/software Tur-Matcher - Match your roms/media/XML files. wesfranks Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Turranius, thank you for Tur-Matcher. It took me a minute to wrap my head around the popups, but the fact that it is binary (yes or no) helps a ton. Confirms and moves hundreds to thousands of "zero misspellings" correctly named roms that I would otherwise have to look at. The other tools (using fuzzy logic) say close enough and try to convince me to click OK when there are still issues. "Hey dude, it's 87%!!!!! 87%!!!!!! And dude, it's just Barbie's Dream Game. 87%. OK?" For your tool, I know that it will ignore everything in parentheses, so I just sort into regional sub-folders, confirm there are no misspellings otherwise, click OK, and the use a generic renamer to add the correct region code to the whole folder. Then I just have to look at the remainder. I really didn't mind using my first-person-shooter skills to click for every file because I didn't have to think about each file. I knew that there was an issue so I knew to click No. Some people may not appreciate that, but- Thank you.
Turranius Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Which version did you download? It should no longer ask the Yes/No questions and just show a list with check boxes at the end. Current version is 1.12 Grab it from the link below if you can find 1.12. Glad you liked it never the less =) Mame related stuff: FTP: grandis.nu, port 21, user:misc, pass:misc http://grandis.nu/software Tur-Matcher - Match your roms/media/XML files.
