Booting into Hyperspin with Windows 10

Hi there, so currently my set up is to have Windows 10 automatically log on and run Hyperspin through task scheduler, which works, but it just takes a while. I've tried replacing explorer.exe in the Shell part of the registry, but it doesn't seem to work. Is there a way to either boot directly into Hyperspin or speed up the task scheduler boot?

On a similar, but still different note, the first rom I load for MAME in Hyperspin always has a much longer load up time than any time after. I assume it's because the program needs to do something on its first run each boot up. Is there a work around for this?

Thanks for any help!

You can use group policy to load a user interface other than explorer.exe - it's very simple and actually supported by Microsoft.

I don't have windows 10 Pro but found a way to install group policy (will share if any interest).  Not sure what to do next though.  Tried to add hyperspin.exe as a startup but windows just booted normally.

I don't know what Task scheduler is or what it's for, but you could just create a shortcut to your HyperSpin.exe and drop it in the windows Startup folder. Anything in there automatically launches when you turn the PC on.

However I've found that it is much better to delay the launch of HS so the PC has time to get all its other programs and processes launched first to prevent any focus issues and make sure HyperSpin launches smoothly. I run an arcade cabinet so I have a shortcut to the TurVolumeAdjuster app in my Windows startup folder. That app pre-sets my volume settings (so it never comes on to loud or to quiet) and then waits 60 seconds before launching HyperSpin. That extra minute keeps Steam or any other programs from fighting with HS for focus.
