stutterutter Posted March 6, 2016 Posted March 6, 2016 Two things i want to know and if have a idea waht to do or knwo im talking about it please from yor learned people. if anyone remembers a few yrs ago "the man" was cracking down on downloading you was told if it was known you was downloading your isp would send a email or you would get snail mail from your internet profider.. well before all that happened i was a torrent downloading fiend, from games to music to whatever ti our budget felt the pinch and we had to talk cable out. that was at our old place and was with a cable company called roadrunner i rdont think they cared about complying "to the man" because alot of people i knew as still useing torrent. Anywho one day we went to her moms house in kokomo and while i was there i decided to upload bittorrent and download something and take it back on my large thumb drive i always kept with me. Sure as rain a few days go by and my girlfriend gets a call from her mom telling her how she got a letter from comcast one of the cable providers there telling her to stop illegally downloading! Opps, my bad so "the man" wasnt kidding around. a few yrs go by and ive moved to kokomo myself but comcast isnt no longer the go to cable company now there is AT&T which i have i very long to be torrenting again but worried about "the man" Any suggestion from anyone anyone know any thing? Story two...lol if anyone read my last post titled please forgive me..you will see i said i still have my windows vista. Well i had to bring it out of moth last mouth cause my windows 7 pc took a serious dump on me. One day i went to turn it on and nothing the pc would turn on but no beeps and no picture, but i fixed it thanks to the brain trust called youtube and luckly my fix feel into under the ovver 55% that its fixable. well anywho what i wanted to know if anyone knew why a windows vista compaq intel 4 pc wont accept graphics card? the mother has a pcie slot to take one but when you install it no picture i when as fas a disable the intergrated graphics and intalled the graphic card no go. Thank you for listening. and thak you bunches.
Tomkun Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 1) If you are asking about if it's safe to download illegal torrents, then you need to be careful. I don't know how acceptable that is on this forum. It's my understanding that ISPs generally don't care what you download unless they get a notice from a copyright holder. You could always use a seedbox in a country with laxer copyright laws or a proxy/vpn. 2) Is the graphics card working at all? If you have no picture, how did you get into bios to disable the onboard graphics card? If there is a hardware error at boot, there should be a series of beeps from the motherboard. You need to make a note of the pattern and look them up: http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm If you aren't getting any beeps, then either the speaker isn't plugged in, there are no hardware issues, or the computer is completely broken.
Metalzoic Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 The major providers (Comcast, Time Warner, ATT, Verizon and I believe Google) all started cracking down on this over the past couple years. They seem to track certain websites, pirating sites, music sites, movie sites etc... and if they notice a lot of traffic will generally send you a letter. Keep doing it and they will disconnect you. I have no idea if anyone has been prosecuted due to it though.
