New Guy Theme Questions

Hey guys,

 

How do you edit/manage system level themes (NOT for individual games, NOT for the main HyperSpin Menu, but rather for the menu just prior to picking the game). For example, GameCube has a Hyperspin wheel that flips through each box/cd art in some sort of default form - that theme is what I want to change. See image attached "sample" of what I want to customize. 

 

I think it is located here, but HyperTheme (v1.1.5.0) fails to open it!    .\HyperSpin\Media\Nintendo GameCube\Themes\Default.zip

 

  "Error Parsing Zip"

 

Any suggestions or pointers to Themes for a newbie would be great.

I've had that happen a few times. If the theme loads for you in HS but you get that error in HyperTheme, try extracting and then re-zipping the theme you're trying to work with. This almost always fixes the problem. If you can't extract it at all and it won't load in HS, it's likely a rare instance of a corrupted download. Anytime I've seen that happen, redownloading directly from the download section has solved the issue.

 

Let me know if that doesn't help and I'll give you a hand directly.

Thanks for the reply. I tried to re-compress into a new ZIP file, but still get the same result. Hypertheme does open some other themes no problem, a handful of these themes don't work. 

 

It seems that there are a ton of "game themes" as well as "system themes" but not the WHEEL themes like I show above. Or is this NOT a theme, but rather a "Wheel Setting/configuration"?

 

Sorry for sounding like a neo on this, but the whole concept of themes really has me confused.

Now I understand what you're asking in regards to the different types of themes. What you are referring to is a System Default Theme, as opposed to a Main Menu Theme or Game Theme. Here is the location for the specific theme you're trying to work on. Try re-downloading it and let me know if works or doesn't work in HyperTheme for you. If you're still having issues with the freshly downloaded theme, we'll figure it out.

Same result even when downloading this new system default theme. Error parsing zip.

Yep, you're right, that's dead too and the one on the FTP isn't the same. I can extract it as well so I'll fix/rebuild it.

Try this. One thing I didn't mention is that when you re-zip it, "Compression Method" has to be set to store.

This one worked like a champ, thank you! I see what you mean now about the zip file cannot have any compressed files. All of my messed up themes had their files compressed. Thanks again!
