Anyone else built a Haswell system yet?

So my tax return has come in and now gone out in the form of the i7 4770K, the overpriced (but awesome) Gigabyte Sniper 5 and Corsair H100i cooler and the first thing I fired up was Dolphin, an older build, and Mario Kart DD at stock settings, 5760x1080, Max internal res and 4xMSAA and it preforms flawlessly. I'm blown away by it because I came from a 1st Gen i5 750, It may not be worth upgrading though if you have Sandy bridge, and from the reviews not enough of a jump if you have an Ivy i7.

Over at the dolphin forums however, there is talk that because of the AVX2 instructions, it's a real boon to emulation, and for the very limited testing I did after finishing the build last night I would say that is either correct or I'm just feeling like everything's super quick because of the 3 generation jump. Rouge Leader ran at close to 100% and of course for those that know, I still crashed into the death star.

I'm looking forward to posting some more results and also see how PS2 gets on. Are there any other emulation related projects that anyone can think of that run slow in general that I could test?

Ah good, is he finding it to be worthwhile? I swapped in the CPU and motherboard and booted my old system which worked, though there was more speed to be coaxed from the sails, so I just wiped it and started over with Windows 8. My god, it really is a piece of crap. Not crap like Vista, it's smooth and fast, but just having to get rid of the metro bile that was forced upon us. I can't stand the Metro/modern UI. Still, everything is running peachy. I tried out PS2 as well, all settings to max and same story, flawless.. :D

well the System I built for him was some seriously high spec machine

for his needs, it's perfect. being a web designer it requires him having multiple windows.
