Hi Guys,

noticed that MAME from 1.68+ supports negeocd and their chds, can anyone get these to work?

I cant even get it to recognise

using:

[MAME dir]

MAME>roms>neocd.>mslug>metal slug (1996)(snk)(jp-us)[!].chd

MAME>roms>neocd.zip [bios]

MAME>roms>mslug.zip [dummy zip]

any ideas, cant get the game to recognise in mame dos or mamuui

using mame 172 64bit +nonag+ hiscore_ forced directinput 0,172 from downloads

thanks in advance

I just tested metal slug on mine and it worked from cli. I don't have the software list CHDs so I just converted my metal slug image using chdman to test. I used the following command, you would obviously use a different path (or just the chd name):

mame64 neocdz -cdrm "C:\mslug.chd"

that works thanks very much, is there a way to make the cd loading faster than the cdz X2? neoraine skips the loading?

Software lists are the MAME hash files that contain all the correct loading procedures for removable media on MAME. It requires a specific romset (found on PD), but some games (especially on home computers like MSX) will not play properly by using direct rom loading on MAME.

The command syntax is simpler too, e.g.

mame.exe snes smkart

Why not just use NeoRaine? I don't use MAME for Neo Geo CD so I'm not sure of all the specific settings but I don't think there's a setting to do what you want. The main goal of the MAME devs is to emulate the hardware as accurately as possible, so I doubt there would be a setting for that (but I may be wrong).

Because the video options / quality is very different on mame vs neoraine. Its looks much better on mame, if the loading cannot be skipped then there is no point. i was just curious. One of the reasons why i sold my neocd system off, couldnt handle the loading times.

Hi Guys, i finally got a decent workaround happening here, what i did is used neoraine or raine BUT in video I used OpenGL + shaders, the shader i have chosen was a "bicubic" shader which made the games look very clean and the same as the neo ones running in mame. I did however found that across different workstations when using some shader and running fullscreen mode you loose visability of the menu options when pressing tab. What i have done is preconfigured everything in window mode then switched to full screen. Now when HS launches the game it still works even though menu is missing which is not a problem for me.
