cant find snes9x.conf

finally got all my games for snes to show up in hyperspin, but I cant get the games to run,  keep getting error that it cant fins snes9x.conf.  I googled it, and came up with what looked like a settings file, but I have no idea how to copy it and make it into a file that is readable by hyperspin... hoping its something simple lol

did that, it now in the folder for the emulator, but its still giving me the same error when trying to lauch the rom through rocket launcher

Ive actually run into a separate problem while trying to fix this problem.  I'm pretty sure it found the conf, file, but now I'm getting an error message that it cant find the emulator even though I know its pointed in the right direction.  so I decided to try and run a game through the emulator, and I get a black screen.  is it possible that the rom set I got was for a 64 bit system and wont run on the 32 bit version of snes9x?

You should always make sure your emulators are setup correctly and running right before you try to run them through HS/RL.

Yea.... just learned that the hard way lol. I had for all the other systems, and it was a mix of being cocky and impatient lol

looks like it was a bad rom set.  ran a few roms that I downloaded on by one, and they run fine, still cant launch them through rocket launcher,  still says it cant find the emulator.  going to just have to tinker for a while I suppose.

Why not just use retroarch?

I originally did try to use retroarch but couldn't get it going. I needed the 32 bit version and when I downloaded it, all the cores were missing. Tried to download the cores and it still wasn't working. So I wanted to make sure it wasn't the roms that were the problem, so I downloaded a few standalone emulators. Those worked to run the roms so I just decided to stick with them

Make sure that the path to the snes9x exe is set correctly on the Global -> Emulators tab in RLUI. That's the only thing I know of that triggers that error.

I'm sure it's good once you get it going, but for a newcomer like me, there are enough roadblocks along the way... no need for me to add another when there are easier roads to take lol

I spoke too soon. Rocket launcher recognizes the games, I can launch them through rocket launcher, but when I try to get into my snes wheel in hyperspin, it kicks me back out to the main wheel. I have navigation in hyperhq set to roms and wheels only. If I take off those permissions, I can get into the snes wheel, but it shows every game I have a wheel image for... and that's alot of them lol

If you're using the Roms Only filter in HyperHQ you have to set your rom path and extensions in HyperHQ also. Otherwise it will kick you back to the main menu when you try to enter the wheel.

When setting extensions in hyperhq, do you still list them as 7z|zip|rar etc... I have all the extensions set, rom path is set, but it's still kicking me out

i have the same problem. Rocket launcher tells me "cannot find Snes9x.conf" but this file IS in the emulator folder from SNES9x. the emulator works great outside from hyper spin. the Troubleshooting Log from RL just tells me "script Error - Cannot find /snes9x.conf"

 

any Idea would you like to have the full trouble shooting log?

i have the same problem. Rocket launcher tells me "cannot find Snes9x.conf" but this file IS in the emulator folder from SNES9x. the emulator works great outside from hyper spin. the Troubleshooting Log from RL just tells me "script Error - Cannot find /snes9x.conf"

any Idea would you like to have the full trouble shooting log?

I had to change the path for the snesx folder in the global>emulators tab in rocket launcher. Give that a shot

Make sure that the path to the snes9x exe is set correctly on the Global -> Emulators tab in RLUI. That's the only thing I know of that triggers that error.

that won't helped me.

 

i delete the specific ones emulator settings, configured one new under global > emulators in RL. through rl i can launch the emulator perfectly, but when I try to start a game over RL or Hyperspin the error message still popping up

 

 


You have skipChecks set to Rom and Emu (which you shouldn't need), and since the conf path is based on the emu path that could be causing the error.

 
that was the problem. it really was "skip checks" to rom and emu. after I chanced it to "false" everything works well. strange but thank you a lot

I think you are having problems because your rom file names need to be exactly identical to the names used by hyperspin. I used a program to check and change the names of sone roms and it worked. But i wish there was an easier way, it would take for ever if you have hundreds of roms.
