iriez Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Im trying to use Don's list generator but after scanning my mame.xml, and it building the mamelist.xml, none of the attributes are transferred into the program itself. For example, im trying to sort the lightgun games. As you can see from the attached screenshots, the mamelist.xml generated by the program does contain "<control type="lightgun" minimum="0" maximum="255" sensitivity="50" keydelta="4"/>"However you can see from the screenshot that the Controls tab in don's program is empty. The genre, year is added, but none of the other important attributes that will be valuable to this process. Why is the program not synced with its own xml? Under the view tab everything is default, which means everything is checked aside from hide all / show all. If someone could please help me understand how to fix this I would appreciate it and thank you. My second issue is a learning issue. By default I let don's list export everything, including clones. So for example, im trying to get sfiii3 to load without needing to re-write the CD to nvram everytime. I was able to play the Japan, 990512, NO CD version , and after it wrote the cd when I launched it again directly from mame (no hyperspin) I was able to load it without needing to re-write the cd. But on hyperspin, despite telling don's list generator to include everything (as in, clones as well), and even though I see it in the xml - <game name="sfiii3nr1" index="" image=""> <description>Street Fighter III 3rd Strike: Fight for the Future (Japan 990512, NO CD)</description> <cloneof>sfiii3</cloneof> <crc /> <manufacturer>Capcom</manufacturer> <year>1999</year> <genre>Fighter</genre> <rating /> <enabled>Yes</enabled> </game> I dont see it in my hyperspin list? i have the file as MAME.XML in the databases\MAME folder within hyperspin. Its almost like its ignoring the file? Or what else would be preventing hyperspin from correctly displaying it? Thanks
kylecp1979 Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Have you tried searching the word "GUN" in the genre box? As for street fighter you can turn on parents only in hyperHQ and it will only show the parent files. When you first start sfiii it has to write it to your hard drive but after it installs it you won't have to worry about it installing again. You can also use the CPIII emulator to get around that.
iriez Posted April 20, 2016 Author Posted April 20, 2016 Not sure about the issue with not loading any of the info from the mamelist.xml but if there was a change in the syntax of mamelist.xml that may explain it. For the issue of not showing the game in HyperSpin make sure you don't have any wheel filters set in HyperHQ for your MAME wheel as they may be hiding it. The HyperHQ filter was present (parent only), which was exactly what I needed to know! As for Don's HS Tools not seeing the attributes, i've solved it. The latest version, 4.3.26 adds support for mame 0162+ XML's, 4.3.25 (version i was running) does not support anything after 0161. http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11377-dons-hyperspin-tools/ Thanks guys.
wesfranks Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 I am not at home so I can't check my setup for confirmation, but are you using an older version of Don's? The utility you screencapped is called Filter HyperList in later versions if I recall and different from the name yours shows. Later versions bring in better features and fixes. That being said, the only version that works on the MAME wheel and incorporates the mamelist.xml information to the right of the CHD column in Don's Filter HyperList was altered by MrSparkle. One change I had heard about to mamelist.xml syntax around v162-163 was changing "game" to "machine". Other things seem to have changed subsequently, but the functionality is back. Just search for Don's HyperSpin Tools and download the one uploaded by MrSparkle. Make sure rompath and extension (and if I recall correctly, in this case MAME executable so it can invoke the mamelist.xml gen command) in HyperHQ. Use Filter HyperList and ensure info to right of CHD column is populated. I'll pass you back on the NoCD issue. Typing into my phone gives me no further insight. Hope I understood the thread correctly and gave appropriate response. Sorry if I sound crazy or confused.
