WinUAE - Dos Error #205????

Hey guys,

I'm trying to get WinUAE running, and I've read about every guide I have seen online. Followed good ol' simply Austin's to a T...

Whenever I load a game though, I get the following:

Dos Error #205
(Object Not Found)
on loading "InsertGameName.slave"

Can someone please tell me what in the bloody hell this error is, and how I can fix it??? I can't find any useful info online, it's all about people using real Amiga hardware!

It's just so frustrating lol especially on a system I wasn't even going to add...

The WinUAE module broke in the recent RL update. I found the issue and detailed the fix on the RL forum here so that they can fix the module.

I struggled to comprehend about 75% of what I was reading there lol

If I understand correctly though, my 2 options are to either:

A.) Wait 'till they fix it

or

B.) Get an old copy of the module?

I solved this by rename the "default.uae" to "default1.uae" in configurations. Try this!

That DOS error is now fixed some days ago.

I totally forgot to mention on here that switching to the old module fixed the problem for me.

But if It's been fixed I may update again.

Now just to figure out how to map controls, this emulator is just too complicated lol.

It's a complicated computer which had many changes and expansions just like your PC.

 

Here's a quick guide to setting the controls which is pretty simple. I'm using and XBOne controller BTW.

 

Switch on the controller, fire up WinUAE and load your config file.

 

 

Once loaded choose "Game Ports" from the left pane.

Under "Port 2" select the controller you are using.

Where I have highlighted with the arrow change this from "Default" to "Gamepad" or other control type if required.

 

 

You can now go back to the config section and save it or further fine tune the controls by clicking "Input" in the left pane.

This should show at the top "config 1" and your controller, if not change it.

You can now add other actions to other buttons, as you can see I have Quick save and Quick Restore set to buttons 9 & 10.

 

 

 

CD32 is the same but instead of choosing "Gamepad" from the drop down, choose "CD32 Pad" instead.

 

Don't forget to save the correct config.

 

 

I now need to fine tune the save and load system.

Anyone got any tips on Save and Load states?

 

I'm guessing the Quick save state is saved as "default.uss" but you can use the normal save state which will bring up the dialogue box for you to type in a file name and click save. Same goes for Load, a dialogue box pops up and you choose the file you saved earlier.

I suppose that's OK if you want different save points but it does interrupt the game and you need a keyboard at hand.

 

I just remembered HyperPause may help but I don't use it. Maybe I'll have a look.
