X-arcade Trackball - Mame not working

Hi new to thisI just got a x-arcade tank stick, the trackball  works on windows and the menu section of mame .171but I can't get it to work in any of the trackball games, any suggestions?

you just have to turn it on. what version of mame are you using?

it is mame64 version is 0.171

Ok yo need to create an ini file if you haven't already here is a guide to help you.

Then you enable and disable things in your ini file with a 1 to enable and a 0 to disable

 

You want to enable mouse and set your mouse_device to mouse

 

so set mouse to 1

and mouse_device to mouse

Thanks Kyle, I did exactly as you said, still nothing. I am able to use the trackball as my mouse in all other spots, just not in game. Is there something specific within the game (say centipede) that i would have to do?

Does it work outside of hyperspin?

i didn't even get to hyperspin yet, i am just trying to configure mame and the trackball. The trackball works only as a mouse in windows and in teh menu of mame. Sorry, if i gave wrong info before

Ok where do you have your ini folder path pointing to? Your mame ini file needs to go there

Did you also config the in-game controls to use the mouse?

TAB while in-game, set inputs (all inputs) or (this game).

Thanks, you guys helped alot and i got it to work, that last step I missed was device was set trackball to mouse. you guys are awesome, thanks again.
