fletch33 Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 i have a cabinet with Hyperspin 1.3 and Hyperlaunch and a few issues: 1. i was having issues where MAME would be on a particular game like Pac Man + and freeze and then after restart Mame will only launch to a blank screen that never moves forward and i have to close it and re-open and then everything works but MAME again and if selected same blank screen. a) after hours of trying to figure this out i did 2 things and that was a chkdsk /r and that found more than a few errors and then when i opened up HS again i had a TON more games listed than i did before but there appears to be a now more a list of all the individual rom sets like 6 donkey kongs etc... so most dont play anyway this MAME freeze then happened again and i used HyperSync and let it run all night and then MAME worked again but there are still games that even when scrolled through cause a freeze on that game even though it is not selected but just freezes as scrolled past c) in MAME sometimes choosing 2 player like on Rampage (son thinks its Wreck It Ralph haha) it just causes the game to restart and you can only play 1 player what i would like to accomplish is : 1. get MAME behaving properly 2. get game list down to actual games instead of 6 rom set views so people less skilled at understanding it dotn have to try six different selections to play a particular game i understand from reading that its unlikely i click 2 things to make this all work and willing to put in the work to make this 99% uptime and working properly if possible. i picked this up on craigslist from a very nice guy that has provided some help after purchase i also was thinking it might be best to get everything up to date like MAME and Hyper to Rocket etc,,, i appreciate any help or suggestions and really enjoying the new toy thanks
Metalzoic Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 The first thing I would check would be that the HyperSpin & HyperLaunch files and folders are exempted in the anti-virus and in Windows Security/Windows Defender. Files constantly being scanned as potential threats can cause very erratic, choppy, lock-up behavior like that. Is MAME the only system of games on the cabinet, or are all the MAME games really all you want on it? If so I'd say rather than trouble shooting his setup, make a new root HyperSpin folder and new root RocketLauncher folder, follow the guides here by Gutch and the video guides by Austin and you could have an up-to-date HS/RL build running MAME within the day. Other than your roms... To get it to stop showing every clone version of your romset, go into HyperHQ, select the system (MAME in this case) and in the options below find the filter settings, check "Parents Only" and it will only show the parent and stop showing the clones. For this to work you also need to add the exact path to your roms in the settings as well.

Other than your roms... i have about 12 systems which are like Nintendo and Super, Atari, Neo, basically the standard US stuff i grew up with in the 70's, 80's 90's and want them all. i will also look into this To get it to stop showing every clone version of your romset, go into HyperHQ, select the system (MAME in this case) and in the options below find the filter settings, check "Parents Only" and it will only show the parent and stop showing the clones. fletch33 Posted July 8, 2016 Author Posted July 8, 2016 OK i excluded the scanning of C:HS and C:MAME i looked quickly for setting for Parents only and didnt see it right away but still learning my way around in there and HyperHQ says its 1.1.1.3 in Title bar
Metalzoic Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 OK i excluded the scanning of C:HS and C:MAME You should exempt your HyperLauncher folder too... or did he put the HyperLaunch folder inside your HyperSpin folder? i looked quickly for setting for Parents only and didnt see it right away but still learning my way around in there and HyperHQ says its 1.1.1.3 in Title bar There are only a few tabs of options with a few settings each. You add the rom path on the first tab, I believe the filters are on the 2nd or 3rd tab. First you pick the system from the dropdown. Then you set your options for that system.
fletch33 Posted July 8, 2016 Author Posted July 8, 2016 Well I again appreciate your reply as there were many things I was trying to do and my HQ never seemed to match what I read and so I discovered the green HQ inside the HS folder versus the orange one I couldn't find anything. Now I have parents and a few other things I wanted so progress made! Well continue on rest Thanks
fletch33 Posted July 8, 2016 Author Posted July 8, 2016 the computer this arcade has is old and so it clearly doesnt require much to run HS as this runs smooth and its a slimline dell probably 10 years old or more. i think i am going to go buy a new cheap PC right now and then setup a whole new system in the house with all the latest software then when it works place it in the arcade. the only thing i wouldnt be able to test is the wired in buttons and joystick. i saw a thread HERE where he talks about the easiest way to upgrade and keep settings etc.. if you read this in the next 40 minutes haha and want to make PC suggestions then please feel free but i was thinking anything at BB is an upgrade to what is running it now. thanks
Metalzoic Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Or go to Tom's Hardware and find their budget gaming PC build. Usually about $400ish and will be more potent than something you get at BB Sent from my SM-G935V
