Hello, i originally followed simply austins guide on setting up dreamcast but just recently seen it can be ran through retroarch. I tried setting it up but it kept crashing retroarch after 7z extraction. Am i wasting my time trying to get this to work?

Thank you

No, you are certainly not wasting your time. Playing DC games in RetroArch is amazing.

There are some issues, the core is still pretty early on. (Won't save system clock settings)

However, it's how I primarily play DC, with NullDC as an alternate.

I don't know what you mean about 7z extraction though...

What game types are you using?

I know I switched from .cdi to the GD-ROM versions a while back and it solved a large number of my problems.

Though, I couldn't say for sure if that's what is causing your issue...

The only time I zip roms is if the emulator supports opening them natively.

That way you don't have to worry about them unzipping.

OH! that might have been it. derp. I still don't really care though, I was just curious how well it worked.  Because my stupid retroarch only detects my first xbox360 controller, and none of the other controllers I have plugged in.  So I only use it for handheld systems with the cool shaders and borders.

Yeah I don't rely on the whole 'autoconfig' thing. So I couldn't comment on how well that function works.

I just use xpadder and set everything up to the keyboard manually. Well, except analogue sticks, I still those manually but I do so in retroarch.
