ras2a Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Hi guys, I wonder if you can possibly help? I'm running MAME64 and trying to get HLSL to work without any success. As a test, I enable HLSL via MAME.INI and then try to lunch a MAME rom via command prompt. However, it bombs and gives an error along the lines of 'unable to initialize direct 3d failed to complete creation of window' I've done some googling and the two main suggestions I can find are to re-install DirectX 9 runtime under Windows 10 and also ensure that the HLSL folder is present under the MAME folder, both of which I've checked and confirmed. So, I still can't get this to work and am starting to get more than a little frustrated after looking at this for the past two days. It's probably something pretty trivial that I've simply missed. Any help or advice you guys can give would be massively appreciated Thanks a lot in a advance, guys Ras
Suhrvivor Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Make sure video is set to auto an not D3D in mame.ini. that worked for me a while ago.
ras2a Posted September 14, 2016 Author Posted September 14, 2016 Hi there Already tried that and it didn't work. I've got a workaround for now, which is to use GLSL (and setting Video to opengl in MAME.ini). These shaders more than do the job for me in terms of giving me that authentic CRT look, so I'm happy with the results Would still like to understand why HLSL isn't working, however, but I'm cool with GLSL for now Cheers mate Craig
