penance Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 I can't answer your question directly, but you could use a CPU monitoring utility to compare usage while running Hyperspin. That would at least give you an idea on CPU utilization. Window's has a resource monitor, but there are better ones out there. You see.. I was really stupid here I think. OF COURSE I can watch it for myself!? Oh man.. I'm feeling really silly now. xD But thanks. I checked it with my i7 4770K (4 cores +4 with Hyperthreading) and I can say that: Hyperspin is using all 4 cores but NOT Hyperthreading! Many many thanks, bma1984. =)
krazeechester Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 I have built many a PC but with how cheap refurbished desktops are I am looking on taking the easy way out. Anybody have any opinions on whether this machine would work for emulating up to the Dreamcast? If you don't think it could handle the Dreamcast, where do you think I would max out as far a system is concerned? Many thanks in advance! http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA5962RJ9240 -- Trying to figure it all out.

To get as many games working as possible you will need a combination of emulator, one being demul and that requires a beefier box. I have no recommendations on minimums. I can only recommend get the best cpu and gfx card you can afford. Good luck.
krazeechester Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Ok I will do that. Thanks! -- Trying to figure it all out.
oregonoceanhome Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 Hi, Brand new to Hyperspin and looking to get a relatively cheap computer to run hyperspin. Don't think think I will be going too crazy with trying to get every single system out there. I used to be, but no longer up to date with technology and don't know if X video card is better than Y video card, etc... Would this be a good computer to start as the base. The computer will be used exclusively for the arcade cabinet build. Thanks in advance, Nate https://www.amazon.com/UN65U-M023M-VivoMini-Barebones-i3-7100U-integrated/dp/B06WP2RVW3/ref=sr_1_17?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1509287322&sr=1-17&keywords=mini%2Bpc&th=1
griffin518 Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 Do you need something that small, for a bartop, etc? The reason I ask is that you can probably put together a mid-tower based setup for a bit less, and that'll give you some additional flexibility. I'd also highly recommend a dedicated GPU if you're considering using any shaders (which will emulate a CRT screen, etc.) Download my RocketLauncher bezels: http://hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/14367-griffin518s-bezel-depot/ Best of MAME HyperSpin XML: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11710-griffin518s-best-of-mame-xml-database/ Best of MAME bezel pack: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11711-griffin518s-best-of-mame-bezel-pack/ Custom MAME ini files w/HLSL settings: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11712-griffin518s-best-of-mame-mameuifx-ini-files/
oregonoceanhome Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 Yes, i would really like something small and portable. If its a little bit more money for something small, i don't mind What would include a GPU?

dmcd2k Posted November 9, 2017 Posted November 9, 2017 Hi all, I am brand new here and was wondering about hardware requirements, hardware is probably my weakest part, so was wondering would the following machine be more than sufficient for running some of the most intensive games and emulators HP Pavilion Power 580-015na Windows 10 (64-bit) - Intel® Core™ i5-7400 Processor - Quad-core - 3 GHz / 3.5 GHz (Turbo Boost) - 6 MB cache 8 GB DDR4 (2400 MHz) (16 GB maximum installable RAM) - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 - 2 GB GDDR5- 10th generation Pascal 2 TB HDD, 7200 rpm Intel H170 https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/desktop-pcs/desktop-pcs/hp-pavilion-power-580-015na-gaming-pc-10164793-pdt.html Cheers all David
