SpykSaturn Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 So I am unable to get it to work. I get hyperlink to recognize the file so I think I have the right Rom. I have done some research and I see something about possibly needing an stvbios for mame. Anyone test this out? Does it come on the latest version and there just be something else not making it work? If I do need to get it then will the emulator automatically Find and use that bios every time I load the game from hyper spin or will it crash every time untill I rest the bios each time I want to play a game that requires this bios?
gigapig Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Are you using the correct bios for the game region? Mame would not be my first choice of emulator for Saturn.
SpykSaturn Posted October 7, 2016 Author Posted October 7, 2016 Ok think I solved my own problem but here it goes because maybe this will help someone else. Stvbios stands for sega titan video game system. The stv board is identicle to Saturn. That's why the bios is needed.
gigapig Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 I had forgotten it had an arcade release, sadly it's still not playable. It looked OK but the sound was bad.
SpykSaturn Posted October 7, 2016 Author Posted October 7, 2016 Well I guess you technically aren't wrong though. From what I've read the arcade board is almost the exact same board in a Sega Saturn but uses chips instead of cars to play the game. Going to try getting the bios then giving it a go. If the reports are true about it being sluggish I'll just try to get a Saturn version and go from there.
gigapig Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 I looked better than the Saturn version with shaders running, but the sound was bad.
SpykSaturn Posted October 8, 2016 Author Posted October 8, 2016 Got it working smooth. That was in fact the answer. There are multiple options to load the game when you add the bios folder and as always in on mame make sure it's in the roms folder but choosing different options when it asks will yield in different results in the emulation. The first one didn't bring up half the enemies but the second one I tried showed everything including the intro video with just a slight slow down in some spots. Going to experiment more.
