Cliggster Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Hello HyperSpinners! This is my first post here, so bear with me.Not sure if this has been fixed yet, or not, but I found a relatively painless way to get problematic video snaps to play properly (with both sound AND video) in Hyperspin. In short, what I did was use VLC to convert my .MP4 snaps to FLV, and this makes them play correctly. Here is what I did, in detail. Keep in mind I'm on a linux machine, so for windows users results may vary:Open up VLC media player. Click the "media" menu button, select convert/save.In the window that pops up, click the add button, and browse to one of the affected .MP4's. Bottom of the "open media" window, click the tiny arrow, next to "convert/save" and hit "covert". Select the H.264 + MP3 (MP4) profile, and click the wrench icon, to the left.Under the encapsulation tab, select FLV. Under the audio codec tab, select "keep org. audio". Click "save" at the bottom.Last step is to select destination file name and directory, hit browse at the bottom to select directory/file name. Hit "save". Lastly, click "start".The resulting FLV should play in Hyperspin. This method could be time consuming with larger snap collections, so if anyone knows how this could be done in a batch, I'm all ears.
JoyStickKilla Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Why would you convert to flv when mp4 works just fine?
thatman84 Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Sorry I have no business here but any details on the correct standard for the MP4
Cliggster Posted October 11, 2016 Author Posted October 11, 2016 Did you tried hs 1.4.x? Yes. The snaps I have play audio only. Black screen for video, in HS. Why would you convert to flv when mp4 works just fine? Reason being is that I found a huge pack of mame video snaps online that didn't work in Hyperspin, but played everywhere else (VLC, WMP, etc) and since I had them, I figured rather than keep hunting around online for other hassle-free (and monetarily free) snap sources, I opted to make work the snaps that I already had. As far as the reason behind choosing flv, I didn't choose that format for any specific reason. It's just that I haven't quite nailed down what exactly makes mp4 videos playable, or not playable, and the conversion to flv was simply my first success story, during my experimentation. When I determine what the hyperspin specific standard for mp4 videos is, then will surely use it.
