Launches one game, then gets stuck

hello! N00b here,

first time posting here on the forums. using the wonderful tutorials that are located on this site i have had no problems setting up hyperspin with rocketlauncher. however when i launch a game from hyperspin rocketlauncher takes over and launches my rom using Final Burn Alpha (my personal favorite emulator at the moment). The issue has taken place with all other emulators and the issue is this: when i launch an emulator it does so without a hitch. however upon exiting that emulator and returning to the hyperspin front end i can no longer launch anything else until, i discovered, i end the process of rocketlauncher. so it seems to me that Rocket launcher is getting "stuck" after it launches any game once.

is there a simple fix for this? am i just stupid? any help from you guys would be appreciated !

It's hard to tell what is exactly happening without any logs. Could you post your RocketLauncher logs?

I saw that nuklhead mentioned Hyperlaunch, do you also use that (kinda depreciated) or do you have RocketLauncher installed?

ok so update, i got around the issue by making the emulators exit script key designated as the 'Esc' key. (this is in rocketlauncher, which i have installed)

it appears that when i launched a rom and thereby an emulator, the rocketlauncher app (that took up about 14 mb of memory in the task manager) was what needed to be terminated when the emulator was exited before another rom could be successfully launched. in essence i created a hotkey that was doing what i had to do repeatedly which was enter the task manager to terminate the rocketlauncher process in order to "un-stuck" it.

however now when i launch my emulator from hyperspin it is successful but hyperspin doesn't mute or go into the background. it just launches the emulator but i need to alt tab and switch to the emulator to play.

i am going to reinstall my hyperspin and start over, shouldnt take me too long to getit how it should be theoretically. i presume that should fix whatever it is that got fudged up. wish me luck and thanks for the follow up Yeuxkes :i_am_so_happy:

so much to my dismay i installed hyperspin in the exact same way i did when i had some success launching emulators before. however now with this fresh install of hyperspin and rocketlauncher it will not launch from the frontend.

i just realized that a reboot might help but this software seems possessed to me right now :diablo:

Edit: so it wont launch because in my hurry i forgot to define the launch path in the hyperspin settings .ini

I feel like a reeeealll winner right about now lol

You could always have a look at Avar's tutorials to help you get started with a fresh install.

It's been so long that I installed Hyperspin and RocketLauncher that I'm sure I will forget something if I would start anew. If afterwards you still encounter issues it would be a good idea to post your RocketLauncher logs here. And something you have to keep in mind is that you always need to setup your emulators outside of Hyperspin first and make sure they are working properly

I found my error by using his wonderful tutorials!

My emulator is solid outside of hyperspin as of now. I am almost done configuring this current emulator with HS and RL and i think all should go well. If issues persist i will defiantly include RL logs with my follow up posts.

thanks again Yeukxes

-edited out LONG RL log -

So i hope just copying from RL UI copy to clipboard function will suffice.

same issue. loads Final burn alpha, but pushes it to the background while hyperspin stays active.

so i just needed to switch the value of 'Hide Frontend' to true to fix my second issue.

dont know why that started but it seems to be fixed for now.

my next mission on my build is to add all necessary media and filter out all the roms i dont have and keep a focused clean fronted.

thanks to anyone that helped and or tried or even thought about getting around to helping me out.

I guess your post got overlooked by the majority of people because most of the US is getting ready to sleep or is sleeping and Europe is only starting to wake up. If you still encounter problems it's best to make a post about 12hrs later/earlier. I find that we then have the most traffic on this site. I'm glad you got things sorted out in the end :D

I know that if i didn't find it myself someone here would.

i know that there are multiple frontends out there, but i chose this one in the end because of the community. :empathy2:

thanks for checking back in on me. I will always post my progress and status in order to attempt to contribute to this sea of useful info.

I find myself mostly competent with sorting software like this so if i can make stupid mistakes most people will. and if anyone makes the same ones as i do i hope they find my posts, or other like them before they lose all hope
