Dosgamer Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 I wish to move my HyperSpin Mame build from an old notebook install (which was on installed to C:\HyperSpin drive path ) to a new notebook computer on using a drive path of D:\HyperSpin drive. I did not want to partition the new notebook computer drive so gong to use a 128GB microsd in the new notebook computer's internal sd slot (will use a Samsung Evo Plus mc128d 128GB Uhs-i Class 10 Micro SD Card). I don’t want to lose all of my installed settings (favorites, setups, etc) originally on the C: old computer. All of my old notebook HyperSpin's folder paths are in C: ie C:\HyperSpin. Now I wish to move HyperSpin to a new notebook computer on this 128GB Micro SD drive. I will keep HyperSpin on the micro sd drive going forward and use D:\HyperSpin. I am new to HyperSpin. It would be helpful if someone could map out the steps I would need to follow to move/setup HyperSpin from my old notebook C: to a NEW notebook computer on the D: drive. Thank you for your help.
ninja2bceen Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 This would be amazing but don't think there is a tool
Dosgamer Posted December 2, 2016 Author Posted December 2, 2016 Thanks. Was not looking for a tool per se was looking for steps or location of some files like the mame favorites to move over manually. I envision this will be a manual process or reinstall. But most important would be my favorites mame game file. was hoping someone who has some experience with file locations or ideas to map out their thoughts.
rastan Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 Well I was moving my entire hyperspin to a external hd. my setup has the main hyperspin & rl on my C: drive and all my emulators are on my C: drive as well (just wish when I started hyperspin I used the Emulator folder within hyperspin instead of keeping my emulators on the desktop but I had the emulators before hyperspin) my roms are and intro videos are all on a external drive already. I started by copying everything to the external hard drive and made all the changes within the emulators and changed my paths for HS, etc... everything should have went smooth and somethings actually worked fine but I ran into some emulators not launching and getting errors connected with rocket launcher, etc. I'm going to try it again just add one system at a time so I can catch the errors as they happen and catch them before they happen again. Mame is a pretty forward system... as long as you change the mame.ini path settings, and change your paths in hyperspin/rl, I'm thinking moving MAME should be a piece of cake... basically copy it to the new drive and just change all the paths from C:\ to the new drive..
ninja2bceen Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 Hyperspin settings folder would all have to be updated and all the emulators. And Rom paths in rl
Suhrvivor Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 Last time I did a migration of HS I opened every ini file inside the settings folder with Notepad++ and replaced the starting route from C:\Hyperspin to the appropriate new location, It's really easy actually, in a few steps you can modify all of them at the same time. You can do the same with Rocketlauncher but since rocketlauncher uses relative paths if that didn't change you won't need to do anything.
