Styphelus Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Seems like I'm having a bit of a problem setting my AES games. Rocketlauncher somehow magically starts my games with a AES Bios which is great but also creates a aes.cfg file which prevents per game settings from loading. For my MVS games I created a neogeo.ini file and specified the Bios as Unibios31. However I can't do the same with my AES system because I have no idea where the AES bios is coming from. or what it is called What I need is either a way to specify the Bios in the ini file or a way to prevent Rocketlauncher from creating a aes.cfg file. I want my AES Bios but I also want per game configs. Any help would be appreciated.

MAME creates and manages cfg files automatically. Don't do anything with these, they are created, modified and overwritten automatically by MAME. - The bios files are part of the MAME rom set now. You don't need to set them specifically, for MVS, AES or any other system. Just make sure the rom folder is properly set in mame.ini. MAME will find the correct bios files automatically from the set. (Side point - this is why MAME sets and emulator need to match, and why it makes no sense to prune MAME sets) - Remember RL now has an option in the module settings to supply a per system mame.ini if you need to. It's not needed to simply select bios files though. - RL starts a system in MAME by supplying it in the CLI command. In short, 'mame.exe systemname rom'. This is how MAME knows which system to load and therefore which bios rom to load, along with the game rom. - Remember RL also has a setting for the MAME BIOS location. Just set this to the MAME rom set folder, as the bios files are now contained in there. - Roms are chip dumps, these include both bios and games. (General point worth mentioning). With all that in mind - it should be way easier to achieve your aim. As basically - you don't need to do anything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Styphelus Posted December 27, 2016 Author Posted December 27, 2016 I know I don't need to do anything but mame doesn't load per game configs when using aes because it creates a aes.cfg and defaults to that. Mame does not create a mame.cfg or mvs.cfg so per game configs still work with those 2 systems. That's the problem I'm having. Also in mame when I select a bios, the aes bios is not available. Only mvs bios will show so I have no clue how rocketlauncher is changing it.

Remember though that the cfg files aren't user editable. What exactly do you want per game options for?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
thatman84 Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 If you really want per game configs and RL/MAME can't do it at all for AES. It can be done with Retroarch MAME but I have not done it myself and not sure how well the games run in RA, it's a bit of a process though Official Hyperspin Tutorials Playlist HS Android Overview & Install HS Android Base Pack Download My Tutorials
