Should I update?

Hey Guys,

So I have not been on the forums in some time… this weekend I fired up my HS setup and noticed that Rocketlauncher said I had to update modules.  I did not update anything yet.. I am afraid.  The last time I did the updates it messed every emulator.  Just wondering if I should update? What benefits does it have?  It has been at least 6 months +… maybe closer to a year since I updated.

Also should I update any emulators? I am concerned about having to reconfigure things again...

If your set up works, I wouldn't change it,   But if you want to upgrade I would backup your Rocketlauncher folder, just incase you do mess it up with the update.

I haven't updated mine in about the same time frame, but it is how I like it.

I keep a copy of my Rocketlauncher folder backed up on a seperate drive just in case this happens, that way I can allways swtich it back and get everything working again!

I'm running on the version prior to 4/19/16 myself because when I ran their update back on 4/20/16 it broke almost every system on my cab.

 

I almost tried updating to the newest version of RL yesterday because they've made some important changes, but didn't want to be messing with it all day.

Like Undertow said, make sure you make a complete backup of your RocketLauncher folder first (maybe excluding media). I just keep my backup copy in a folder within the RL folder though. That way if it causes issues you can simply copy paste your prior working RL right back and have it all working fine again. You should do this every single time you update it, even if it's a small update.

There's a thread right on the RL forums that keeps a running changelog of each update.
