rastan Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 I recently turned Scanlines on in HyperHQ and it really made a difference for me.. the themes look much better and just gives it that arcade feel that I like. You should definitely give it a try if you haven't turned them on before... I must admit that I never even bothered to look into the screen options before and was kinda shocked when I saw the option for scanlines in hyperspin. Also to mix things up a bit I set all the systems wheels with the standard wheel art to horizontal/center (except Arcade classics) and all the system wheels with custom wheel art to normal... this definitely makes it less boring to me when switching between systems. If anyone has any tips.. please share..
gigapig Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 I've tried it before as I do love a good scanline Which shader did you choose?

Off hand I can't remember but I tried them all.. I do know my current dedicated hypespin system is only a i3 so the one I finally used was one that didn't affect the speed... as some really slowed things down for me lol. I use a LCD 32" TV so the scanlines added a nice touch to the visuals of the front end side.
griffin518 Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 I've never been able to get that setting to do anything for me... am I missing some hidden trick?

I just basically tried all the provided scanline images in the folder and found one that I liked and more importantly didn't slow down my system. I wouldn't say it was make it or break it ground breaking stuff but it does have the same effect as using the simple scanlines found in mame vs not using any effects in mame. it could just be a preference type thing as I really like seeing the scanlines... especially on my wide screen LCD.
gigapig Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 I may have also tried the scanline images from the mame artwork folder.
griffin518 Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Yeah I meant it's never worked... at all. Like it refuses to use any of the scanline images, and works like nothing has changed. All you did was turn it on in HyperHQ? I tried again last night just to see, and it still wouldn't work.

griffin518 Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Thanks for confirming... something's askew with my setup, then. No idea why it won't work. I'll add it to my long list of tweaks to investigate.
gigapig Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 I tried it on mine but it was a little ugly on my screen.
