Hell I new to Hyperspin but have been building arcade cabs for over ten years. I gave up on hyperspin several time but always loved the way it looked and worked. So I had someone set it up for me. Regardless everything works great but I want golden tee fore complete to show up on my wheel. It is listed in my mame roms I have both the golden tee complete file the iteagle file and the chd file but it isnt  on my games list in hyperlaunch HQ. I have a fast computer and a golden tee track ball set up just for this game and want to activate it.

Yes I have searched for answers and watched many youtube videos on it and still kind of lost. Any help would be awesome, thanks

1. To add it you would simply add it into your database xml file.

2. But if it isn't already in your database then it probably doesn't work with whatever version of MAME and roms you have setup.

3. If that's the case you would need to update you MAME and roms to a newer, matched version where Golden Tee does work.

Which version of MAME & Roms do you have?

thanks for the reply guys. We had a big storm and lost power for six days. I have mame 166 and I have seen it run on youtube with 163 so im good there. I does not even show up under the games in red when in hyperlaunchHQ. I thought I would try to launch it from there because I have see  it done in tutorials.

Right now I have a i3 6700 and want to see how bad it is before I spring for a i7 cpu

Just because it was working in 163 doesn't mean it works in 166. Sometimes they break games with different versions. But if it isn't showing up on your database it's possibly because it was marked as a non-working game in 166.

To try it do what i said in my last post. Manually add it into your MAME database using notepad (although I recommend you download and use Notepad++ instead). Just look how the other entries are or copy/past one and change it to the game you want to try. Once it's in the database it will show up on your hyperspin wheel and you can try it to see what happens.

EDIT: Your databases will probably be in HyperSpin>Databases>MAME and they are just a text.xml file.

THE GOOD:

Well I kind of had some success with my quest to run Golden Tee Fore Complete on my computer. I went into HyperlaunchHQ and clicked on MAME on the left then clicked on the games tab at the top. After that I clicked on a blue magnifying glass that said launch game. I did that and a bunch of zip files came up and I clicked on “gtfor06” and then the OK button. The game came up and worked pretty good, but there was no sound. I can fix the sound later.

THE BAD:

I went into  hyperspin /arcade/databases/MAME/ golf games pulled up the file that had all the golden tee games and copied one of them and replaced the name with  “gtfore06”.

I had to click on edit on order to edit it. Before I did this, the file was written in blue, red, and black. When   I clicked on edit everything turned black and the text changed a little.  I finished adding the file and clicked close and there was some lag so I clicked a few times in the middle of the screen. When the computer caught up, my crazy clicking clicked on a few pup up window before I could see them. Don’t know what I agreed to but the text of the file in in all black now and one big paragraph without all the symbols. AAAAAHHHHH!  Don’t know what I did.

Don’t know if I need to fix this because everything still works. But I still need to add gtfore06 to my hyperspin wheel.

Anyone have any advise?

Post a screenshot of the screwed up part of your database so i can see it.

You can simply delete the entry you added and try it again also

Like I said, there was some lag and I clicked three or four time in the middle of the screen. Then BAM! several windows popped up asking for the OK for this or that and my clicks agreed or OKed  who knows what. Or maybe I disagreed or clicked close or convert; I can only guess what happened because it all happen so fast.

the image with the paragraphs is how it originally looked and the solid text chunk is what was the result.

Help is much appreciated.

Shit...

There's no fixing that as it looks like it unformatted the rest of your xml. No idea how you even did that. You say you had to click on "edit" to change it? That's weird. It's just a textfile so you should just need to right-click on it and choose "Open with Notepad++" etc...

So it's just your golf genre XML so no worries. Here's how you can make a new one.

Get a program from here called Dons Tools in the download section and put it somewhere. On my setup I have a root HyperSpin folder, A RocketLauncher folder and a Utilities folder. Everything that doesn't go in the first 2 goes into Utilities in folders.

Go into your HyperSpin>Databases>Mame folder and find the MAME.xml. This is your complete MAME database as you have it. Make a copy of it and go put it somewhere (Utilities>Dons Tools>New DB's is what I use)

In your Dons Tools folder you will see 3 or 4 Dons Tools apps. Open the one called List Splitter, pick your copied MAME.xml as the input databse and choose to split it by genre and click the Creat XML button (or whatever it's called). This will spit out all your genre xmls, so just grab the fresh new Sports-Golf.xml and replace your old borked up golf one with it. There, you should be all fixed.

Now just add the game again, but more slowly this time. Ha!

-Right click on Sports-Golf. Pick edit with Notepad ++

-Pick any entry. Copy that entry from <game image... to </game>

-Find where golden tee fore should go alphabetically in the database and paste it there.

-Then change the old rom name to the one you want, the description to the game you want, the year, manufacturer etc... until it matches the new game.

Test it by going into MAME and selecting genres, golf and see if it's on the list and launches. If so you're good. Now you just need to copy that fixed entry you just made from the genre xml and add it into your main MAME xml (wherever it should go alphabetically) so it will show from the main MAME wheel as well as from the golf genre wheel. Since you had such an issue the first time I recommend keeping that full MAME.xml copy around as a backup just in case.

I finally got everything fixed thanks to your advise. Downloading Notpad++ and opening and editing with it has worked great.  I have added "gtfore06" to my data base and it now shows up in hyperlaunchHQ when I click on the blue button that lists games. The game shows up in green and I can launch it with the rocket button. The game plays well to. Although there is no sound, but I can fix that later. I have heard of others that needed a file to fix that problem as well.

The only thing I need to work on now is getting the game to show up on my hyperspin wheel.  I have looked at a few tutorials at gameroom solutions and youtub but still lost.

Any recommendations? If I can just get it on the wheel, I can get art later.
