mar00n Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Hello all, Looking for some expert advice again please I'm currently using ootake for this romset, every game runs but the emulator settings keep resetting every time I launch a game through hyperspin or HQ. It's the controller settings that are bugging me. I set it to 6 button pad, configure the controls with xpadder off and the game works fine, upon resetting though it messes up. Also, with xpadder enabled every time I press a certain button the toolbar appears at the top stopping me from playing unless I close the emulator, is there also a way to disable keyboard commands here. Better still, whats everyone else using? My Hyperspin system so far: Atari 5200 100% -Atari Jaguar 100% -Atari Lynx 100% -Gameboy 100% -Gameboy Color 100% -NEC TurboGrafx- 16 100% -Nintendo 64 100% -Nintendo Entertainment System 100% -Nintendo Gameboy Advance 100% -Nintendo Virtual Boy 100% -Sega 32X 100% - Sega CD 100% -Sega Game Gear 100% -Sega Genesis 100% - Sega Master System 100% -Sega Model 2 100% -Sega Saturn 100% -SNK Neo Geo 100% -SNK Neo Geo Pocket Color 100% -Super Nintendo System 100%
dougan78 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 You do not list what emulator you are using. However based on your description of the issue it would seem that you are using medafen. I know based on my key configs I had to reconfigure the medafen menu controls to not use certain keys otherwise issues like you described happen. Or it would save state, load state, or other weirdness. Most emulators allow you to configure keyboard commands for emulator specific functions and typically I added a special key for those functions so my key configs do not get in the way (like ALT+1 for save slot 1instead of just 1). Good luck.
mar00n Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 I'm using ootake. Mednafen does not even work! dougan78 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 I am not familiar with ootake. I personally use magic engine for those. You would need to check what keys you are using for controllers vs what keys control emulator special functions. Also be sure your hyperlaunch exit keys do not mix into your controller keys as that can cause tabbing issues too. Based on the info on this site: http://www.fantasyanime.com/emuhelp/emuhelp_ootake.htm You probably need DTools Good luck!
mar00n Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 Stay well clear of ootake, horrible emulator. Does not even give you the option of being portable. I have been fighting with it for hours so I deleted it and moved onto MagicEngine, took me a while to get the gamepads working on there without glitches but great tip mate. Thanks! mar00n Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 I have a really odd problem. I have set up the emulator for Supergrafx, turbografx 16 and obviously CD. Whatever game I choose for turbografx CD It's as if im holding onto the D-pad (down+left). No problems for the other NEC consoles. Also (all consoles) certain buttons trigger the run(start) key pausing the game even though I have deleted all gamepad settings and used the keyboard diagram to configure all keys individually. dougan78 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 If you are using xpadder make sure you have a blank profile setup for the system otherwise stuff like you describe happens.
mar00n Posted April 8, 2014 Author Posted April 8, 2014 What do you mean by blank profile? dougan78 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 IF you are using xpadder. You need to go to select the system. Go to the xpadder tab on the right. Make sure there is a profile setup for the system and the number of controllers you use. Some emulators do direct input so not sure if this one is like that. If you do not use a blank profile for xpadder depending on your keys it will cause the spinning issue. xpadder is a keyboard to joystick button profile software that many use to map xbox or ps3 controllers to keyboard buttons. I have had similar issues with various emulators in the past when I forget that a system is direct input and the xpadder profile needs to be blank for each of the controllers you plan to use. In my case all 4 xbox 360 controllers.
gigapig Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 IF you are using xpadder. You need to go to select the system. Go to the xpadder tab on the right. Make sure there is a profile setup for the system and the number of controllers you use. But a blank one correct? I've had that happen with SSF recently and wondered what was going on.
dougan78 Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 Yeah. Put a blank one in. I had it on my kenshin game for ps2 I bought. Character would spin around like mad pissing me off. Then I remembered xpadder was on.
dougan78 Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I think it has to do with the arrow keys being a default or something for movement. The xbox controller mapped to the arrow keys for navigating the wheel will use that profile and when you use the emulator the stick is sensitive and doesn't reset the position or something. Anyway I have had the most success by turning my 4 controllers on and making sure I add them all in with a blank profile so that way I do not have it hitting letters or whatever other keys if it supports direct input. The exact menu is keymapper and then whatever keymapper you use needs to have blank profiles. In my case xpadder.
mar00n Posted April 9, 2014 Author Posted April 9, 2014 Well, I have just been running xpadder in the background with no issues until this system. Anyway to fix this problem I reset the emulator and reconfigured the keys once again. Now I can move my players on both pads. Thanks fellas. Early days so far but I am now moving onto PCFX, when I load a game it says "load error" :/ My Hyperspin system so far: Atari 5200 100% -Atari Jaguar 100% -Atari Lynx 100% -Gameboy 100% -Gameboy Color 100% -NEC TurboGrafx- 16 100% -Nintendo 64 100% -Nintendo Entertainment System 100% -Nintendo Gameboy Advance 100% -Nintendo Virtual Boy 100% -Sega 32X 100% - Sega CD 100% -Sega Game Gear 100% -Sega Genesis 100% - Sega Master System 100% -Sega Model 2 100% -Sega Saturn 100% -SNK Neo Geo 100% -SNK Neo Geo Pocket Color 100% -Super Nintendo System 100%
