Hyperspin Cant Find Roms

Recommended Posts

Hello i have ran into a issue while trying to set up an Atari 7800 Emulator with hyperspin. I am using the emulator "ProSystem", I have everything up and running in RocketLauncher UI. All 58/59 roms found and run like a dream. When i try to launch it through HyperLaunch i recieve the following error in my HyperLaunch Log.
"

11:04:37 PM |  HyperLaunch v2.25c
11:04:37 PM |  System Specs:
        HyperSpin Dir: C:\Hyperspin
        OS: WIN_7
        OS Language: 0409
        OS Admin Status: No
        Monitor #1 (\\.\DISPLAY1): 1920x1080 (1920x1040 work)
        HyperSpin Res: 1936x1056
        AHK Version: 1.1.07.03
11:15:43 PM |  HyperLaunch launched directly
11:15:57 PM |  HyperLaunch received "Atari 7800" and "Centipede (USA)"
11:15:57 PM |  INI Keys read
11:15:57 PM |  Checking paths
11:15:58 PM |  Cannot find Rom - C:\Hyperspin\Roms\Atari 7800\Centipede (USA) with any provided extension

I have checked my rom extensions in HyperHQ and they are as follow "7z|zip|a78". I have gone in to the .ini for this system and made sure the rom paths are correct, wich they are.
If i run hyperspin and go to my "Atari 7800" Console it cant seem to find any of my roms so it wont load my wheel (yes i know its on "Rom Only" im just mentioning hyperspin cant find the roms either), I have made sure i have the right XML in the database, folder named exactly as the console name "Atari 7800". I have checked all of this fourm and a couple others and couldn't find a solution for this unique problem. If anyone out there could help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

You have a few different problems here. First, if you're using RocketLauncher you don't need and shouldn't be using HyperLaunch so you don't have HyperSpin and RocketLauncher connected properly. You need to make sure you're using HS 1.4 and the Hyperlaunch_Path in the HyperSpin/Settings/Settings.ini is pointing to your RocketLauncher.exe. Also, your extensions in HyperHQ are not set correctly. They need to be separated by commas in HyperHQ instead of pipes.

Hey thank you for your help! I am on HS1.4, and the Settings.ini is already pointing to the correct path. The extensions in HyperHQ were the problem. Swapped the bars to Commas and i received another error while trying to play. Hyper couldn't find the modules for the emulator i was using. I went in and renamed the correct .AHK file and it works perfectly.

Just a random question, i currently have all my SNES and NES rom extensions seperated by bars and it also works fine in hyperspin, why would it work with those systems but not my atari ones?

Thank you again for your help i was stuck for days on it!

If you're getting that error HS and RL still aren't connected properly so it's falling back to HyperLaunch. Post your HS log, the log.txt in your HS folder, and I can confirm that. If you're using HL/RL to launch games the executable, extensions, rompath, etc in HyperHQ aren't used at all and don't need to be set. The extensions and rom path are only used when the roms only filter is selected.

It's not using RocketLauncher, like I suspected. HyperLaunch has known issues and is extremely outdated so you don't want to be using that. Make sure that the Hyperlaunch_Path in the HyperSpin/Settings/Settings.ini is pointing to the RocketLauncher.exe without any typos/mistakes in the path. Also make sure if you have the RocketLauncher.exe set to run as admin that you set HS to run as admin also.

Thank you both.  I had trouble launching games through hyperspin/hyperlaunch even though they would launch correctly through hyperlaunchHQ.  Settings in HyperHQ were not set to run through HyperLaunch.  I know this is different than what you both were posting about but it still helped me figure out what I had done wrong.  Cheers!

I use rocketlauncher to start mame64 games in hyperspin but the first game on a fresh windows startup takes 20 seconds to start.  After closing this game the next game will open almost immediately. I know others have asked this question but I can’t find a solution. I have no anti-virus running, no windows defender, no rocketlauncher fades or bezels. I updated the mame64 version to the 209 no nag from 197 no nag with no change. Any help or suggestions would greatly be appreciated!!

Ok. I'm new at this. Basically, when I initially set up Rocket Launcher I set Hyperspin.exe as my Default Frontend Path in Rocket Launcher. I opened Hyperspin, and opened games and all was well. Few hours later I turn off PC, go to bed.
Next day, I come home boot up PC, run Hyperspin and get error message about RetroArch. See first attached pic. I look at my global setting and see that RocketLauncherUI.exe is set as my Default Frontend Path, see 2nd pic. I change it back to Hyperspin.exe and all is again well, games are launching.
Next day, boot up PC. Same thing. Why is it forgetting my settings when I turn off the PC? Is there a 'Save Settings' or 'And I mean it this time!' button I'm not seeing and need to click?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.
