The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Transition from old to new

Austin, I'm not totally sure that Hypersync will "update" you to mp4 as in erase flv and replace with mp4. It may just see you have files with the right name and skip it - but try to standard sync vids first just in case. If that doesn't work, you have two options, but before we talk about that you should know that I'm not personally sure if all videos that exist as flv also exist as mp4, but just based on my own experience, I'd say its above 90 percent. The only ones I ever noticed missing were some oddball intro vids for unofficial systems.

Having said that, you can do this one of two ways.

Hypersync- as in you can go to media/system/vids and change the name of that folder (I'd call it the system name and just leave it, it'll make it less confusing.) then create a new folder called 'video' and sync with hypersync. You will now have all available mp4 vids. If you are worried you've lost a few, you can check each folder to see the number of files. If you have more flvs, the easiest thing to do would be to select all MP4 vids and paste them into your flv folder, and choose to overwrite all files. This will overwrite every flv that has the same name as an mp4, and leave the flvs that there is no mp4 equivalent.

FTP You can also get on the emumovies ftp directly, pull all mp4 vids for a system and put them directly into your video folder with your flvs and choose to overwrite existing files. This will also leave any possible flvs with no equivalent in tact.

I personally have noticed any difference in performance, but the mp4s do save some space.

Goodluck,

+1 Gig..

And, I don't think Windows will ask to overwrite the files. They have different extensions.

I had, at some point, a batch script to remove any flv files that have the same file name as an mp4 file.

Wish I could remember where I put that... Or someone remember what post it was??

Thanks,

Ron

Hey guys,

I've spent so many hours today on setup! Things are falling into place now, and I've learned a ton. I am updating emulators that will not work with the newer modules. After I get everything running in HLHQ, I will go through and setup player 1 and 2 xbox360 pads for all systems. Which should be fun....lol.

Here is my latest problem, some systems are giving me "Parsing Errors" telling me that some xml's are not well formed.

How can I fix the problem? Are there databases that I can get off the ftp? Would do you recommend?

Continually, I was trying to set up zinc, but but I got an error that said the roms are no longer numbered, or something to that effect? Does zinc use a normal naming system now?

Thanks a bunch

Which xml's are you referring to? Did you get them via Hypersync? I did here recently that some were showing up corrupt, but would hope that was fixed, if it happened at all.

You can try Hyperlist but that should have the same as Hypersync.

If you created you own then you will need to use Don's Hypertools, those older xml generators aren't really compatible any more.

I use 360 pads, one of which is modified in my control panel. Most are set up in the emulator the rest in xpadder. I recently found out, for some of those set in the emu (example SSF) you then need a blank profile for xpadder, otherwise strange things can happen. Strange noises in the attic, icey chills, characters spinning madly, hitting yourself over the head with game pad.

It's all true ;)

Nice, I'll try and re-sync or go the old don's tools route. I have xpadder set in manner that does not affect play. I try to set all controls via emu not using xpadder. I only use xpadder to navigate hyperspin menus. So hopefully no "noises in the attic"

Okay all, the newest errors are" Your system name is: Arcadia 2001 and is not supported by this module Mess"

I am trying to fully setup up Arcadia 2001, Channel F, etc. I am have downloaded the correct xml from hyperlist which have their full names i.e. "Emerson Arcadia 2001" and placed them in my "Arcadia 2001" database folder but this hasn't helped. Do I need to rename those folders or modify the MESS module?

What is the process I need to use for these types of errors with any system?

Thanks

That system should be called "Emerson Arcadia 2001".

To find the official names, navigate to:

...\HyperSpin\HyperLaunch\HyperLaunchHQ\Media\Icons

There you will find all the icons HLHQ uses and the associated "official" names.

Thanks,

Ron

You answered your own question earlier :). You name then the same as whats in the icons folder.

The database should match the icons, if it doesn't rename the db.

Now I know where those are, do I need to rename them? Do I need to rename my database file? What do I rename or change to remedy the problem?

Thanks

Thanks Gig for the help for sure!!!

You can rename the system easily from HyperLaunchHQ. Select the system on the left side. Click the icon at the top left that says, "Rename the Selected System". Put in the new name and hit go! ;) It will rename the database files, folders and all.

Hope this helps,

Ron

Thanks Ron, I'm still learning, I did not know that. Funny the stuff you miss when your set in your ways and it's staring you in the face.

Already I have every system named properly! Things are coming along! Now...

How do I settle problem of Zinc? I have the numbered Romset, do I need to rename every file to their proper short hand name in order for this emulator to work? It has given me nothing but problems the past hour. The error says it does not "recognize the number 22.zip" or any other numbered rom for whatever reason. Thoughts? Is there a good spot on the ftp that has renamer for these roms?

cheers
