Dime333 Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 I have this MB: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B85M-E45.html#hero-overview And I have 2 x 4GB of these memory modules: https://www.amazon.ca/Kingston-Technology-Modules-KHX1600C9D3K2-8GX/dp/B0037TO5C0 I want to get another 8GB of memory and I have a chance to buy two of these at a good price: http://www.amazon.in/Kingston-KHX1600C9S3K2-8GX-1600MHz-Non-ECC/dp/B0047A7B60 Will this work?
dougan78 Posted March 23, 2017 Posted March 23, 2017 Kingstons website has a memory compatibility thing on it. Select your motherboard, then get the correct part and go shopping.

In fact, there were no CL9 modules at all in the list of compatible HyperX modules. I still have no clue if that module will work or not.
dougan78 Posted March 24, 2017 Posted March 24, 2017 I am sure they will, imho crucial is the other place i would check. Though I am sure the memory would all operate at cl10 with the kingston stuff. I use too keep up on that stuff more.... good luck
Dime333 Posted March 24, 2017 Author Posted March 24, 2017 I ended up buying the modules. I hope they will work
Dime333 Posted March 28, 2017 Author Posted March 28, 2017 Well, It's seems that I'm a very big idiot. How the hell did I miss that the modules are completely different in size? I guess the ones I bought are for laptops. Well, well.
dougan78 Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Well that is why I recommended the kingston compat checker to get the correct part number first, then shop. [emoji14]
Dime333 Posted March 28, 2017 Author Posted March 28, 2017 Yeah, but I wasn't really interested in going shopping. I just had an opportunity to get those modules at a good price and I took a chance.
