The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Need some help, a little lost.

Hi guys and gals, I purchased a mame machine. I know its best to build your own, but I didn't have the time or patience due to work. I absolutely love the machine, the only problem was it didn't have super street fighter 2 grand master, which is essential for me. I was able to add the game, theme, etc no problem, and it works fine. The only small problem is that I think when i updated the the list using hyperRom2xml it added a whole slew of games that were not in my mame folder on hyperspin before, mostly foreign games that dont have roms or artwork associated with them. I think maybe thery were on the HD but not displaying in hyperspin becuase they didnt have roms?  I would like to go back to the way it was where almost all the games in my hyperspin mamem menu had working roms, artwork, video snap etc. Does anyone know what I did?? It's not the end of the world, but if there was a simple fix i would more than pleased. ANY help you guys can give is MORE than appreciated. Thanks

Hey! From what you describe, it seems you overrode the XML file you had for MAME. If you don't have a backup XML file from before, maybe the easiest solution could be going in HyperHQ > Wheel Settings > Select MAME > Navigation/Themes, and in the Wheel filters section, check the box with "Roms only".

Hope that helps.

Thanks so much Kondorito, I appreciate your help so much. I will try that right away, but before I do is there any risk that I will lose games or artwork? I obviously want to avoid doing that. Will selecting "roms only" disable all artwork and videosnaps? or it just dispays games that have a rom associated? sorry to ask so may questions, thanks again for your help.

No worries man! Ask away :)

You will not lose anything at all; the filters will do that: filter. So if you don't have a specific rom file, the wheel will not show up, even if it is present in the XML. The HyperHQ tool does not mess around with the artwork in a sense that you will get it removed, so you can play around with the options until everything looks to your liking.

Just a couple of hours ago Avar uploaded a new Hyperspin tutorial that covers HyperHQ:

The video is the number 9 from the first post. It is only 5 minutes long, but I am sure it will be of help.
