craiganderson
I am not sure what I am doing wrong. But here is what I want to be able to do. SOunds simple. All I want to do is to be able to edit a video clip and have the final result have the same dimensions as the video going in. I have tried numerous programs and even when the dimensions are listed as the same going out as they were going into the editing program....there are always black areas around the video.... thanks

32assassin
I followed this tutorial to capture videos ( with major changes to fit my needs) http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?15951-Tutorial-to-make-perfect-emumovies-for-hyperspin-frontend&highlight=hypercam 1. as recommended by the emumovies forum, use the TechSmith Screen Capture Codec Unlike Akilies, I don't have 6-10 Gig 50 second AVI video clips, thanks to the TechSmith codec my clips are anywhere from 3MB to 120MB. 2. I"m not using Vegas to edit my videos; I use virtual Dub check out this tutorial The tutorial mentions this but make sure you click on "Direct Stream Copy" by doing this you will not re-encode or modify the video in any form. you are making an exact copy of the original video. akilies recommends you compress your file after editing in Vegas video with Virtualdub and the TechSmith codec, When the process finish we will have the video rendering uncompressed and take up much space in particular 960 mb, but we don´t worry because the next step will be to encode it with VirtualDub with TechSmith Screen Capture codec that was installed when we installed the Camtasia program. With this codec we will compress the video without lose quality just to leave it with a size of only 12.2 mb.We download this folder with VirtualDub and we put for example in my documents folder: I skipped vegas video and went straight to VirtualDub. With the Stream Copy option you should be able to edit your videos and have an exact copy of the original file.
